I know...I always say that to people who ask me about Tom Waits. You kinda need to get him to get his music. That's why I always point people to his episode of "Storytellers" or something first, because he spends a lot of it talking and he comes out with some gems. His whole act is what gets you first. Especially given what a mental voice he's got. Then you realise how great his songs can be.

"People Envy Happiness Dogs Though Sense Courage Knowing Jubilation Means Better Ass..ests. Pretty profound." First time I saw it, I watched it about 6 times in a row. Was NOT expecting the twist at the end.

I think I'd be OK provided he wasn't wearing a hat. (We both know thats not true, I'd royally shit myself). Meeting was pointless. He kept re-iterating the same key phrases. It was as if he'd spent the week I was off finding excuses and just kept saying them over and over without deviation.

Although, the Classic Rock Magazine special "Fan Pack" edition of the new album is coming with an Alice make-up kit, so I'll probably spend the next few months saying I'm gonna apply the make up, and then not bothering to come show night. Whitesnake are an odd one. Not really a band, just David Coverdale's backing band in a sense. Came out of the ashes of Deep Purple's original demise (original line up had 3 former Purple members) as a blues-rock band, he disbanded the original set up and moved to America and was massive over there as a hair metal band, then he did an album with Jimmy Page, then he went solo and when that wasn't commercially successful he started performing under the Whitesnake brand again. it is just Coverdale, though. Earlier stuff is killer, 80s stuff a bit Bon Jovi-esque, newer stuff a mixture of the two.
