Let's see... albums in last month = Older albums by Queen, Green Day, Metallica, QOTSA, Catatonia, SOAD and a lot of other random albums. Ice Cube's new one dropped and I wasn't impressed after first listen. I'd had a few beers and some old 90's beats aside, it didn't do much for me. I actually thought Spotify did a decent job with creating playlists for me based on my 2018 listening data. Added a few new bands via that. Anyway, hope you're good mate.

Only old albums do it for me. My main issue is I'm so swamped with music that newer albums from even the last five years or so don't get regular plays. That means something reasonably new will never get enough plays to become a "go-to" album. I'm pushing myself to have at least one week a month where I play nothing but albums though. :)

Very few new albums blowing me away. Lots of individual tracks are pretty much love at first listen. Frontierer - Gower St., DMA's - Delete, Enabler - Sail the Sea of Fire and Lord of Pain - Animal Flag. Have two maxed out Spotify playlists at 10,000 tracks each and another at 9,200. Then about 5 other playlists that are a bit neglected. Always good to see what you've been into, no matter if it's new or old.

QOTSA, RATM, The Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy. That is some line up gringo.

Agree entirely mate. I still haven't dedicated any time to albums. I fucking have to even if it's just one or two albums here and there. I'm weird. My charts are either all random tracks from various playlists or 20-30 full albums over the course of a week. Spotify is being a petulant child again and randomly double scrobbling my tracks. Something I listened to 3 days ago and played once will randomly be shown to have scrobbled twice. God. I hate what this place has become. I was very naive to think that what last.fm was would have stayed that way.

I think I've worked out the only way to get out of my bored music state of mind. Basically, new music. New playlist with 2,500+ tracks and most are bands I've never heard of before. Mixture of female pop-punk, lot of indie, some rap, female experimental and a few new albums from 2018 sprinkled in. It'll do... for now.

My problem is I can't just listen to one or two albums. For some reason, I have to line up an album playlist that is probably 8-12 hours long. Yes, Björk is something else entirely. I think she's very unique in the fact she can't really be defined... she's just an artist first and leaves genre discussions to the rest of the world. I'm definitely still a shuffle person but even that is randomly picked to begin with from numerous playlists. I actually roll a dice to decide what I'm listening to then change it up after an hour or so if I'm not feeling it. Will be having an album session at the weekend now I've decided it's something I need to invest more time in.

I'll be honest mate, I'm kind of lost with my music at the minute. Nothing excites me much. I'm massively impressed with Björk because almost every song I've heard seems like it has meaning and she's put effort into creating something. I'm kind of swamped in having so much music to listen to. I'm trying my playlists a little more but they only work depending on what mood I'm in. If I've had a few ales and want to get lost then the post-rock/doom gets played. Other times it's just random playlists getting selected. I do need to dedicate a lot more time to albums though. As much as I like discovering new artists, there's a lot of older albums I haven't even given enough time... yet.

Listened to the album once and I honestly can't remember a single track sticking out. It will take a few listens before I can give a real opinion. It's odd that nothing stood out though as there's usually a few tracks that make an impression.

Gigs look awesome mate. Kreator/Arch Enemy are doing a joint gig in Newcastle in December and I'm tempted with it. My last.fm subscription is up tomorrow and not sure whether to renew or not. It seems pointless now the radio doesn't work how it used to and I'm not that bother about seeing who visits my profile. I felt like I was contributing to help the site when it first started but now all they care about is money. Will talk football in a few days with the new season fast approaching!

I was in Corfu celebrating my parents 40th wedding anniversary recently. I've done Belfast and Prague already this year and have Belgium in November to look forward to. Canada/Prague are on the cards for next year as well. I wanted to listen to your radio stream but the last.fm player was acting up. Might have a 6 hour + session of your radio soon though!

Checking on what you're listening to once a week (at least) is always a pleasure. You've always got something great going on. Placebo, for example, not my cup of tea but some fantastic writing and a unique sound. You listen to such a range of music that it can only continue to open you up to more amazing music in the future. Me? I'm alright. Still drinking ales (quite heavily) and pondering about my future.

I still count myself lucky to have bought Deftones - White Pony and Tool - Lateralus on the same day completely at random. I hadn't heard of either of the bands and just picked them off the shelf. Best purchases ever.

Re-educating myself on some stuff I never cared about at the time or even years afterwards. Stuff like Happy Mondays, Ocean Colour Scene, Menswear, Ride, Blur, The Farm, The Libertines, Oasis, The Bluetones, The Charlatans, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, The Seahorses, Beady Eye and Dodgy are getting played. The Last.fm radio is completely messed up now though. They insist on playing the tracks via YouTube rather than as a radio stream so any YouTube videos that don't have the correct music license to be played on YouTube... are skipped. It means the last.fm radio option is pretty much dead and pointless compared to what it was about a month ago.

Good thinking that. I'm way behind on new albums and don't really feel the need to bother with new stuff from artists I've already discovered. Saw Mastodon mentioned on your Facebook page and that's probably one of the few exceptions where I'll get the album as soon as I can. Busy mate. Work is challenging me in new ways but if it doesn't kill me it's all part of progress, right? Not boozing in the house as much so doing more social things is decent. Heard an amazing track by KRS-One early today. Will probably stick it on my Facebook as my track of the day.

They're changing something else with the radio soon. Can't see me renewing my subscription actually since the site isn't what it used to be for me. I don't feel like I'm actually making a difference with paying where I felt like I was contributing back in 2004 when I first started using the site. Owner/manager openly admit to not being interested in Europe. Safe so the players aren't bothered. Hull City 7 points clear of safety but still looking over their shoulders.

I think in the past trying to remove a track was duplicated actually removed both instances of the track because of the timestamp. Not 100% sure but it is possible to remove one of the duplicates now. Seems to happen randomly and frequently. I haven't used the site enough to keep up to date with changes really. First priority for Hull is survival but I can easily see a few teams far worse than your team. Fulham beating us has given them a chance but it's still a slim one. Sunderland have a shocking set of games left. Away to Liverpool, Spurs, Man City, Chelsea and Man Utd. Home to West Ham, Everton, Cardiff and WBA. They need to win all 4 home games and anything away from home is a bonus which would give them 40 points. Happy my team aren't down there this season though. Yay for mediocrity being deemed a "success" by the board/manager.

I've been frustrated with the last.fm radio over the last few days as it randomly double a scrobble. I think every 10th track played was duplicated so I had to keep removing duplicates. I'm disillusioned with sport in general and don't feel like there is one sport I can identify with. I'm out on Saturday for a few beers with the lads and we'll watch the Fulham away game but it's a side act to the main event of us having a good laugh and catching up. If we win it'll be canny because I hope Fulham get relegated but any other result is just "meh, whose round is it?" I couldn't support a team that changed identity just because an owner wanted it. It's his business but the club will always belong to the fans and the working class core of fans that kept the club going in darker times.

It's a good thing I was away from the match entirely and was too busy focusing on quality beer and the beautiful streets of Prague. Football has fallen down my list of priorities. It's a social thing now rather than actually bothering with the team. Never thought it would be like this but that's what the owner/manager have done to my opinions on what's important in life. Getting back into my music slowly but surely. Last few days I've had another 20 or so artists added and I realise I've missed out on a few albums that I need to check out. Hull CITY V Sheffield United at Wembley will be a messy affair!

No chance to gloat or anything! We have the quality to win any game but sometimes the team just doesn't click. The key was probably going to be the first goal. Pardew is just proving what an idiot he is. He thinks he is a top manager but he's just an arrogant prick really. Most of us up here still want him out but only if Ashley leaves as well. Anyway, Remy is playing well so that means he'll be off to a team actually wanting to challenge for trophies. WBA, Fulham, Swansea, Cardiff (with their mental owner) have all panicked and sacked managers. Hull have stuck by Bruce and they'll be okay this season. Aye, it was just the right time to get back into music. Already know I have a lot to catch up and albums to check out! Hope you're doing okay mate. :)

Morning mate! I've done something I never thought possible... I've gone off music. I know! It's blasphemy of the highest order. I've become more selective in what I listen to and recently I've only listened to music on the two days I'm in the office. I'm enjoying it rather than have a constant barrage of new stuff hitting me. This time will pass and I'll probably get back into my regular listening habits soon enough.

The tracks I have on my laptop is getting close to 11,000. Since I've started to work from home two days a week, I've been able to listen to the radio a lot more. Like with the Jazz theme a couple of weeks back, it has broadened my taste a lot. When I play my radio station now, it's a mix of over 7,000 artists I've already listened to. I love how the last.fm radio goes off what you've recently been interested in. If I play a weekend of rap/hip hop and then listen to my radio, it'll generally play about 50% rap/hip hop tracks based on what I've listened to over the last few days. Not sure if last.fm is programmed to do this or if it's pure coincidence.

Listening to this newer stuff has been a trippy mess. A good mess though. Adding 100 new artists to my library in one weekend is always welcomed. I agree though. QOTSA's latest album rocked my socks off after the first listen and I've listened to a pile of new albums a few times but not dedicated a lot of time to them.

I use the word "neglected" a lot when it comes to talking about music. Even new albums get one or two plays and then usually left for months. There is just so much to listen to. Albums I love and will probably always have in a top ten list get neglected for other stuff or new artists found via the radio stations. Currently checking Edgar Froese's similar artists. Very long ambient/kraut rock/electronic/ kinda vibe. The sort of music that probably takes you to another world if you're in the state of mind.

Newest albums by Kylesa and Emmure are solid after first listen. Lots of post-rock again. Joy Wants Eternity, The Seven Mile Journey and Daturah. Also rediscovering Eyehategod and Amenra were amazing as always.

Same here with post rock. I only listened to it at work using the radio. I gradually needed a few artists added from that kind of genre. Good thing about mixing it up with something like jazz is now I'm listening to my radio, it has jazz artists included so they'll appear randomly (like right now). :)

The interaction side of last.fm was one of the biggest things for me. Not necessarily needing recommendations every week either, just people talking about albums and they way their taste has changed over the years. I guess I haven't put in a lot of effort to stay in touch with people myself so I'm trying to sort that out.
