Thanks, Erkan. It's so good to have someone that appreciates our music milestones. Currently listening to new artists on an obscure 8-Bit compilation of Japanese artists - https://open.spotify.com/album/66KilPPFJXAQCXofoi1oLy?si=pn5I0wLfQZ6T16nF-EU0PA See if you can get halfway through each song.

Hello again :-) How was your Easter "partying"? I hope you enjoyed good food with your family ? I did. ... I guess the the global Corona pandemic helps us all to get to enjoy our favourite bands more at homes :-) Greetings from Germany

Good to hear from you! My family doesn't celebrate Easter and I'm all alone in Europe. Just played some GO with a new acquaintance. Surprisingly, I've been listening to less music lately. You're catching up on the number of artists in your library though. Did you ever play that Eclectic Music Game?

If so, please have a look here (B) for e.g.spotify! Have a great weekend ahead... Hello again from Germany, Montgomery! It's glorious to see you are still here at lastfm after more than 11 years :-) ... Welcome to the "oldtimers" club... Looking back now, how did your musical voyage mature over these years? ... Wishing the best for your pending "17k artists scrobbled" milestone... How I came by your lastFM profile, again? ... I've just finished looking at messages from way back (2011 Nov.) in my shoutbox... Wishing you a wonderful Thursday

Evening Erkan, Yes, I'm still actively relying on Last.FM to make sure I'm only listening to new music. Besides the music game, I never really socialized much on site; Besides the responsive site redesign, everything is sort of the same for me. The Last.FM eclectic listening group on Facebook did stop many years ago though. Where you in either of those groups? Isn't the milestone 17,500 artists? After your big 15,000 unique artist heard accomplishment, the milestones goes up every 2,500 from then on. 15,000 is really important though. You still making daily progress? I've been trying to optimize my time better: Though I only listen to music I haven't heard before, I've been listening to albums I missed from the artists I follow. Finishing Queen's back catalogue now, right in time to see the movie too! Find me on some other social platforms too. Quite a few Erkan-Yilmazs came up on Facebook. Anyway, how do you have so many people still shouting on your wall?

lastfm and spotify are my sources for new music... and yes, I make daily progress (when I am lazy, I just use spotify's "Release Radar" and the "Discover Weekly")... Groups: I remember being in the group for games (checking others music habbits), but once lastfm closed the groups, that was a bad thing, e.g. I ran a few groups myself (musicology, ...). Disappointing, very :-( ... My name (EY) is quite frequent, it's similar to the frequency for e.g. Tom Smith. But I am not using Facebook, though I have an account there. shouts: well, one of my goals is to revive lastfm a little, so I take the time and talk with people :-)

Well, you don't have to know everything you have listened to ever in your life. But your library is a handy little reminder for when you are a champion. You will have to survive rounds first (so play something I or the champion does not know), to be within the chance of being the longest lasting survivor. Let me know if you have any further questions. There are lots of help threads/etc but just in case you need a personal touch. Let me know TAB

No thanks, I'm not using Spotify anymore (was a combination of them booting me back to Free when my Paypal-account was empty on a friday afternoon and the whole thing with the playlists became a bit tedious), so instead I'm on a combination of MusicBee (plays my Last.fm-recommendations automatically, or my neglected|new local albums) and Tomahawk (a bit slow but useful for artists I can't get here).

The round started after I posted the first round. I had until today to finish this round. That is part of the game, catching a player unawares, listening to something the current champion knows, has heard of or has scrobbled.

That's why you need multiple columns: special-paste in the first the actual values (these are the Spotify URIs), paste in the second column the normal values (artist and track names) and let Excel split that one on that weird character between artist and track name (it's not a hyphen). Sort by artist and cut back on the number of tracks for each artist, select+copy the remaining Spotify URIs and paste (ctrl+v) those in a new Spotify-playlist.

These are my recent tracks played from Spotify, one track per artist (about 60K in total?).

The Last.fm-app for Spotify is in their/Spotify's apps-section, open Spotify and go to APPS (it's currently their 3rd placed app). Next, open a playlist with previously played tracks and grab'n'drop one of the artists on the Last.fm-app: you now get a Similar to-playlist with (hopefully) 18 new artists, repeat until you have just less than 10K tracks, delete duplicate artists (this will result in getting more artists on your profile quicker) and delete artists that you've played before (same).

You can get a copy of your playing history through LastScrape or Shikaka (I'd advise Shikaka since you can have it update periodically instead of doing a new scrape) and when it's done have it do an export (tsv instead of csv-format otherwise your artists with a comma in their name get broken). Rename the file-extension from tsv to csv, otherwise Excel can't import it. In Spotify: select multiple files, right-click and choose "copy Spotify URI". Go to your spread-sheet program of choice (you can use Google Docs, OpenOffice and the like but only Office/Excel 2007 has the option for more than 64K rows), and paste them at the appropriate place (I usually pasted the vanilla and special to get the actual Spotify file-URI), go to Conditional Formatting and set it to highlight duplicates. Remove duplicates, add resulting artists + tracks to a new playlist. ???. Profit!

I used Spotify a lot since it has the option to export the playlists and a Last.fm-app for getting new artists+tracks based on what I'm playing, import it to an Excel-sheet, delete the duplicates against my library. But lately I've been checking music blogs and my recommendations :)

I run the game so except in unusual circumstances I don't take part. The next 2 rounds will be done by rolandkirk. He has been known to do his first round very early in the 24 hour period many times in the past, so be prepared :)

The next round of the game starts tomorrow afternoon (UK time) and can be done any time from 1 minute to 24 hours after that, and a ranking list will be available shortly after that. I always send a PM to group members at the start of each round or group of 2 rounds.

Nah! Epi is one kind of a resource ;-) In my eyes Motorpsycho are a Psychedelic-Rock-Band, but not very progressive. There is a lot of Doors, Black Sabbath and other 70s Psychedelic-Rock in their music. And their zenith is over. They had their best time in the late 90s/early 00. I remember some legendary concerts (e.g. the keyboard-player falling asleep during the concert, because he was sooooooo stoned ;-). Great gig.)
