So, if you were to recommend a couple of recent books to me, which would they be? The two I've been recommending to others (which are not Stephen King) are "Klara and the Sun" by Kazuo Ishiguro and "Killers of the Flower Moon" by David Grann. I'm fixing to re-read the latter, since it just got filmed and one of the leads is being played by Leonardo diCaprio. Picturing him as I read it a second time will be interesting, since casting hadn't been done (when I read it for the first time before the pandemic.

So, like I said, I haven't read much in the past few years because of school, so I don't have many recent recs. The time I have had for books, I've leant towards poetry and nonfiction. I really enjoyed "World of Wonders" by Aimee Nezhukumatathil and "Crying in H Mart" by Michelle Zauner (of course lol). Been reading a lot of nature-related stuff like "Bringing Nature Home" by Douglas Tallamy and "Birding Without Borders" by Noah Strycker. Last book of fiction I read was last year, it was "The Memory Police" by Yoko Ogawa, which...I have mixed feelings about. I enjoyed "The Housekeeper and the Professor" by her. I really want to read "Klara and the Sun"! In fact, there is so much fiction that I've been ordering for the library that I want to read. I've joked that once I've graduated I'm going to be responsible for 90% of the circulation stats, haha.

Also, just fyi I have nothing against Stephen King, I've just never read any of his books. Horror isn't my thing.

Right now, I have "Trust" by Hernan Diaz and "The Marriage Portrait" by Maggie O'Farrell, next TBR.

I just got Bat For Lashes tix this morning for her LA show in Feb. Hopefully, she'll schedule a date in NY, and you'll be able to see her as well! I'm really liking the new album.

And yes, I'm really into her new album, too. Personally, The Bride was just too difficult to get into emotionally and I was afraid she'd never come out with an album again, so I have to say I am so relieved to really enjoy Lost Girls.

Best of luck getting a good ticket tomorrow! I ended up with a seat right next to the aisle, in the balcony section. :)

Yay!! Is Town Hall a seated venue or GA (first come first serve for a spot)? I saw that she's scheduled a show at a synagogue as well. We're lucky! She's only doing a few shows in the US, and we happen to be in two of the cities she's picked to support the new album. :)

It's a seated venue and I got row E seats! And for sure, that's one of the reasons why I love living in the NYC area: everyone stops by here! I grew up in this area, but then lived in Portugal for a few years and yeah, it's hard to live somewhere where not many acts stop by. I usually had to rely on summer festivals to see my favorite acts, but there are so many and usually my faves were all spread out between them. In terms of music, glad to be back stateside, although I will say that the energy at shows there is out of this world. I think the audience in Portugal, because they don't get as many opportunities as we do, really savor the experience. That's something I really do miss here. Shows feel a lot more magical there, and there seems to be a bigger reverence for good music and art.

It was great! Second time this year, but I got a much better view this time, so I feel like I enjoyed the show more. She looked like she was having so much fun on stage <3

I think you'd like Stella Donnelly. Give "Beware of the Dogs" a listen and see if you agree. I think I'm going to get her vinyl next time I go to Amoeba Records. It just came out. I'm really liking it a lot.

She was great in concert over the weekend. Omigod she was so cute!!! She likes to talk between songs, just like Tegan & Sara. :)

When all is said and done, I think Kacey Musgraves' "Golden Hour" is the best thing I've listened to this year. I'm gifting the cd to a lot of people (who I'm pretty sure have not heard of her) this Xmas. :)

I had already heard of her and heard some tracks, but never really got into it. This new album sounds so good, though! On vacation now, so can't listen as much. Thinking about going to see her, too

No the live feed says Live Feed next to the Upload A Pic button. It shows you all the other booths as they appear in real time. Unfortunately, DB has a tendency to go down sometimes because the creator abandoned it. :o|

Look at your listening to music as I type this. That is so amazing about the stamp. I was jut "oh pretty!" lol I'm googling this. I'm fascinated by the colorblind. I've had fun. I was going to go to 4 Knots Festival today but I'm too tired. Here's some pics on my second DB account: http://dailybooth.com/nogi Why do you still have no DB? :o(

It's been my turn. :X Your postcard with the beach is currently staring at me from the bedside which is where I always have it to remind me that I need to send you a postcard. I remembered 3 times before but was in a rush to work. I'm sorry I will send it right away. I've been busy with school, work and concerts. I just came back from Brooklyn where I was at one. I've been in a concert each day since Tuesday Sam. My ears can't take it!

Summer classes. It's living hell. I thought I would get a head-start and take some classes during the summer, three in total. Turns out that since we only have two months to complete the classes we do quadruple the work. Two chapters, two quizzes, two homeworks, two discussions a week. So I guess it's more like double the work then. Still ... way too much work when one is also working a day job. D:
