Well thanks, but you don't need to do that, it's what I'm doing...as a hobby, at least for the moment :) It's true that Lou Reed is the soul of VU and a very underrated artist, but I guess John Cale is far more underrated (especially when it's about success, Lou Reed is more well-known, but Cale? Is there any person who's not an obsessed music fan that has heard of him? I guess there aren't too many). At least he was responsible for the first 2 VU albums, and that unique sound. When he was no more, VU's sound changed radically to a more pop-influenced one. Paris 1919 is one of the best art rock records I've ever heard...And I've heard of it recently :/ Yeah, he's more of an experimental zappabeefheartish lad :>

Happy New Year. Yes, as you said before, Lou Reed is very good, but I suspect John Cale of being more of a producer than Reed. He produced some of the most important albums of '60s and '70s such as Nico's first albums, The Stooges' first album, Patti Smith's Horses, The Modern Lovers' debut album etc...Well, as an objective point of view, VU is probably the most important/influential rock band, they created sounds and new genres spanning from alternative rock, noise rock to punk and dream pop. Of course they're more influential than Roxy Music...I guess Eno's solo work is also more influential than Roxy Music's one ;)

I haven't read too much about this thing, therefore I cannot relate to much to the link between Lou Reed and Bryan Ferry...Still, there had been connections between VU and Brian Eno. I bought a book about VU and I'm still reading that (I guess I'm somewhere between '71 and '73 :d)
