Yeah, it's good to mix those things. I guess The Early November, Saves The Day, Taking Back Sunday all those early-00s mid-00s bands set the groundwork for today's post-hardcore and alt. rock that aren't hitting the charts. The Matches? Heard their album E. Von Dahl Killed The Locals is a strange but good record. I also like that sound you describe. Spitalfield's Stop Doing Bad Things record is also one classic I always enjoy :)

EIT is near pop gold perfection. TGP was a grower for me, as well. I was hoping P&T would grow on me, but it just hasn't done it for me -- which is a bummer, because it was one of my most anticipated last year. SoCo has a near perfect discography in my opinion, though.
