yea synthwave is really good but its mostly just people doing the same stuff over and over again, this was also the reason why i stopped listening to it, just no standouts besides carpenter brut and perturbator. dance with the dead has a huge discography, dan terminus and lazerhawk are the ones i come back from time to time. havent heard much from master boot record but planning to listen to them later, seems fun. and gost just sounds like a weaker version of perturbator ngl not a big fan

True, I think that's why It never truly got big in any relevant scene after awhile because there wasn't any growth, true creativity, art made with intention. Easy could have blended genres (Pertubator did this on his newer albums, going towards a gothier post punk kind thing, another reason he's objectively the best in the genre), Some mix black metal (gost and one other I forgot lol) I'm actually surprised no one has tried to mix darksynth elements with rap lol

even vaporwave had much more development than synthwave because people were willing to experiment with the sound rather than trying to monetize it as "the sound of future". its cheesy, there is a lot of it and people wanna hear it so cant really complain. nothing wrong with that either its just not used in the "best music of all time" discussions, but outside of that bubble id say its really popular, much more popular than vaporwave
