Terve, kiva kuulla muistakin suomalaisista pitkän linjan scrobblaajista! Erityismaininta profiilikuvalle ja Badalamentin korkealle sijoitukselle, damn fine taste in music!

Thank you very much for the kind words :D I think that Kaluk Transformation had run its course. I've had enough of big 20 minute walls of sludgey brown noise for now. I'm aiming to make this project a little more accessible to fans of darker ambient fare despite my overt 'borrowing' from noise/HNW sources. I had aimed to release 2/4 songs a week rather than trying to force entire albums at far less regular intervals. I sadly couldn't upload any new material last week due to my internet being down for an indefensibly long time after switching providers. I can only apologize for the projects ridiculous name :p Both it and the song titles are phenomenally pretentious references to Richard Vine's writing on Chinese contemporary art. Anyway, I hope you are well and thanks again for listening :3

You know I've never actually listened to Clandestine Blaze. Isn't it a black metal side-project by the guy behind Nicole 12? Actually it sounds like the kind of black metal adore. I love the lo-fi and primitive sounding stuff, or the incredibly melancholic and atmospheric fare.

Surely not! You do yourself a disservice. Coming up with a thread that people can be enticed to join in with or even be bothered to post in at all is a challenge in itself.

Yep. I've been very indecisive and feeling very uncreative lately. I've just not been a forum kind of mood. And given that visiting said forum is about the only reason I bother with last.fm anymore, i'm afraid i've been absent. Thanks for the friend request! :D

No, the Holly Dolly cover was just something I heard when I was ten. Björk and The Knife introduced to me to the Northern European musical scene. Eivør Pálsdóttir got me into the more traditional stuff.

I also enjoy Värttinä because I can forget all about my problems. I also like how happy their music is. Listening to them is kind of like traveling to a far off land where my problems don't exist. Modern North American music doesn't have the same effect on me.

I think Värttinä is easier for me to listen to because I can't really understand the lyrics. I've looked up translations to their lyrics and a lot of the lyrics were pretty funny. Holly Dolly did a cover of Ievan Polkka that got popular in North America. They played it on Disney Channel all the time. I was about ten when I first heard the song.

I have noticed that Värttinä is more popular with foreigners. A lot of Finns don't seem to like Värttinä very much. The same thing happened with Björk in Iceland. You probably know Loituma's song Ievan Polkka. It was part of an internet meme back in 2006 or so. Niekku is a band I discovered on folkyourself. I love discovering music from around the world on the internet. North American music can get so boring after a while. It was nice hearing from a Finn :)

i don't remember which RoB i listened to, but the volume was so low that even jacked al lthe way up all you could hear was a faint buzz and squeal. like a pig getting stuck at the factory a mile down the street. so if Urfaust isn't like that, i'll check it out. ;] i've come across sooo much awesome atmoblamet this year. check out the new albums from [artist]The Great Old Ones[/artist], [artist]Woman is the Earth[/artist], [artist]Addaura[/artist], [artist]Omega Centauri[/artist], [artist]A Forest of Stars[/artist] and [artist]Ne Obliviscaris[/artist].

i do enjoy a good wall of text. ;] i've heard Urfaust, but i can't remember what i thought of them. i see they share members with Ruins of Beverast though, a band who is literally unlistenable due to beyond shitty production. i'll bookmark a couple albums though and see where i land on them. thanks for the heads up on Raate. due to the modern marvel that is private torrents, i was able to track down all their releases in about 3 seconds, so i'll be checking them out too. unfortunately i'm literally a year and a half behind on my listening, so it may be a while. and it always warms the cockles of my heart when someone says they use the blog. <3 tragically i suffered the bloggers version of a sting operation, and my mediafire account was suspended a couple weeks ago, meaning all the links are now dead. :[ it hurts my head thinking about replacing all the links, but i'll tackle it eventually.

You're welcome! I wish there were more albums like those, but i have to say that they are hard to find. The work of Dale Cooper Quartet & The Dictaphones is also very enjoyable and has these hypnotic Twin Peaks vibes the artist name already suggests.. Especially the album Parole de Navarra. Yay for Twin Peaks too.

Hello there. Not a bad taste yourself, I particularly like the profile picture! Love Twin Peaks/most things David Lynch. Yeah, I'm pretty much coming to Helsinki just for the festival. Having said that, I am arriving a couple of days before it starts so any recommendations as to where to visit around the city would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, Valse is my label. I always ask from time to time the guy from Owl Cave this thing. He has some tracks which are not released, but for the time, he says he don't want to release them, but also says it's not just one time deal. Hopefully we will have a new album some dat. Did you checked Mare Frigoris? It's the same guy and similar music.

I dont exactly remember but their blend of Balkan folk and metal is my cup of tea. Probably heard of them looking at rateyourmusic lists and decided to buy all 4 of their albums plus the dvd. They're excellent.

Haha hey there, I think my poor charts have been affected by my misled youth, the profile is about 3 years old now haha. But you do listen to lots of good stuff, that's the main thing. Husky Rescue and Tagan and Sara particularly :) And guess what? Your pets (albeit imaginary) are safe.
