That is hopeful at least! She did say she was working on record back in June 2012 and nothings happened with it (yet) :( Hopefully something will see the light of day soon. What little we have had lately (Dotted Line, Avalanche and Ho, Ho, Ho) has been great.

Night Ride Home what an album! Probably Joni's strongest of her later albums for sure. (sorry just saw your shout from like 3 years ago on the albums page) What do you make of Shine? I am only just starting to warm to it myself. Ps I need new Liz Phair I am like dying :(

Too many ballads! I like the individual songs but as a whole the album borders on unlistenable. "Yours Was the Body" is far away the best thing on it. I was hoping for more upbeat, playful songs, judging from the pre-release preview tracks. Oh well, maybe she can get another "Last Day on Earth"-style hit.

It's pretty good, has a 'live' feel. I've only listened once though, surely it'll still grow on me. It'll take a long time before I love it anywhere near as much as Beauty & Crime or Songs in Red and Grey though. "Song of the Stoic" a.k.a. "Luka" part II is my favourite of the non-singles.

I only have heard his new EP which has this 'classic', at times bombastic, chamber pop approach with rich production and complex choruses (this is my favourite). Other than that I've heard some duets with him, and I could see something like "Black Widow" working for KMH. My favourite Sophie album is Shoot from the Hip but Trip the Light Fantastic is also very good. Singles aside, I don't really listen to the other two. The new one (out next Monday) is said to be more 'organic', the first single is a bit of a bore but the opening track has recently surfaced and it reignited my interest, it has a huge chorus and lush arrangement.

Noo, that actually didn't cross my mind, I thought you'd stick to the Australian theme (whoops). As I didn't have much time to check the nationalities of the artists, I had no idea which one could be yours. // The "Take Me to Church" video is gloomy but well worth watching, and I loved some of the imagery in "Luvbazaar". // I'm sort of regretting sending Alice & the Mountain... while I love the song, I think I should stick to sounds which stand out a bit more.

Thank you! I definitely agree, she's a brilliant lyricist. I think I started digging into her discography after hearing "Unbound" on some alternative radio in 2008, and it was such an experience listening to all of the albums for the first time. I hope she still wants to experiment a little, both of the previous studio albums had that one more more 'fun' song on them ("Solitaire" and "Unbound") so I hope that will be the case with the forthcoming (Feb 2014?) record!

Glad to hear that, it's still my album of the year! Back when it was a free taster download I didn't really like the title track but it snuck up on me quietly and is one of my favourites now... well, all tracks on the album (bar "Golden Lies") are my favourites, haha. Her previous EPs are worth listening to as well!

The shorter one was my initial choice but the only video I could find was in really poor quality! // I don't know who Passenger is? I love Washington's "Holy Moses" and I thought the rest of the Insomnia EP is rather good too. Haven't heard much of her stuff before that one though.

Congratulations! Now, it's a shame that the winning song wasn't "I Sucked a Lot of Cock to Get Where I Am" hahaha. I've never thought No-Man would do so well, just... wow. If you actually liked it, I recommend any of No-Man's first three albums (Loveblows & Lovecries, Flowermouth, Wild Opera) – "Angel..." is the longest song of all three though, haha.

I agree, novelty songs are surely fun to hear live but don't belong on an album as they wear off too quickly. It was the night shift in a printing house (not sure if that's the right term), I don't want to go into detail but it was physically and mentally exhausting. Right now I'm focusing on uni, I might get a small scholarship this year but a sugar daddy or some other source of income would be always more than welcome.

I saw this posted on Kate's Facebook – I wish I could participate but I'm broke at the moment! I'm really excited about the new material being more focused on her voice. // (Sorry for being shit at responding to shouts, by the way, I had a shitty job and I just quit.) // If you want to check out Miss Li, try her album Beats & Bruises, and if you like it then maybe the newer Tangerine Dream and Wolves which are poppier and not as dark. The earlier albums are rather hit and miss but it's admirable that she keeps releasing them at Rihanna's pace. // Juliana Hatfield released a new album (Wild Animals), and the Minor Alps one leaked quite a while ago but I haven't had the time to listen to either of those.

Lanie definitely deserved to place higher! Sia came to my mind I was listening to that Prince Rama song, hahaha. A couple of days after the first PJOPS I stumbled upon Juliana Hatfield's new collaboration with Matthew Caws from Nada Surf, sounds completely different from "Universal Heart-Beat" but it's interesting nonetheless: http://snd.sc/14GFPWG

I haven't watched many but I loved the Planet New Year one! God-Fearing might be boring but there's at least a separate shot with her lipsynching (I don't know why it's such an issue to me). Did that recent concert influence your choice of entry in PJSC?~ haha (I know so many of the entries this time around :( )

Thanks for the reminder, I've had it open in another tab for a couple of days but for some reason (Vimeo) haven't watched it until now. It's a bit of a non-event to me in comparison to the God-Fearing video, and the half-assed lipsynching irritates me but the song has cemented itself as one of my favourites on the album. And have you seen Kate Miller-Heidke 'on the hunt for dick' (not really tho) in the Ride This Feeling video?
