Well, the answer to yr hitherto unanswered question is finally here: I was listening via Spotify on my phone and since I am currently leeching only the free version it won't let me do anything other than shuffle play, those three tracks being all I had time to sample before needing to do something else, details of which I can't recall. Doubt that was an answer you were eagerly awaiting, probably more likely had forgotten you were still waiting for one haha. Talking of Shakey Jake though. Finally found that ad on youtube. It says it was uploaded years ago but I've never been able to find it. Certainly stands the test of time and I vote it be inducted into some new hall of fame for adverts

Quite a coincidence we both discover Catfish And The Bottlemen in the same week! I swear to you I hadn't looked at yr profile before giving them a ▶! Was just randomly checking yr profile. If I had any motivation at all it was to see if you'd had chance to listen to Wakey!Wakey! yet lol

I am going to be insanely jealous if the answer to this question is yes: have you actually got tickets for the Incubus gig? I remember making a good old mixtape of incubus songs to try and persuade you to go and see them with me. I'm guessing you've come to appreciate them a lot more since then. The last album took a while to grow on me, but, I have absolutely fell in love with it now. So atmospheric and Brandon has stepped up his vocals yet again

No worries man, we've still got a bit of time until Easter raises it's head, not long, but, a bit. I'll be heading back to the shire with Hayley and Kieran on the thursday before good friday and departing on tuesday or wednesday, something like that, so you'll have to clue me in as to when you find yourself not otherwise engaged. I think it was just how different it was to their previous cannon of work that left me scratching my head at the new single. With The Strokes JC usually has a deeper drawl, his singing is more like on his solo crusade

JW, I find myself a little afraid that the reason you have not replied to my last txt is that you've disowned me as a friend after catching sight of what I've been listening to on this sight and being immensely disgusted and embarassed for some of the recent additions to my library, most notably the Glee Cast. I hooe this isn't the case and you've just been too busy to get back to me yet, or yr phone's broken etc. Let me know the low down on what yr getting up to this easter when you know so we can arrange some face time. Been far too long since we've had chance to catch up. Well... I say catch up, maybe I should say make each other giggle inanely.

Yeah really enjoyed it thanks! Yourself? I thought it was a bit Eternal heavy but the encores were fun. Even if it was very similar to the last set I saw them do. Bumped into a couple of my friends when I left you guys, which is why I didn't return, although the crowd had moved in by then anyway.

This is gonna be a bit of a combined reply to both correspondence received from yrself via txt and this 'ere shoutbox sir. I am unsure what to do accommodation wise now Days Inn is no longer an economically viable option for a night's lodgings. I still like the idea of everyone piling back to my hall for the nite tbh. Only issue in that case would be transport, well and sleeping bag provision possibly... It definitely isn't an impossibility though - a taxi could work out to be reasonable when split between four or five possibly? I'll find out if anyone I know has done it before and knows prices, if it's gonna be 'silly money' then I'll start looking into hotels, after letting you know of course (I know how much you love scouting out a place to rest for the nite) Once again with 4 / 5 sharing prices shouldn't be astronomical per head. I am also quite suspicious that some of SM's actions are to bait the media attention he claims to dislike as these guys are childhood friends after all...

Well at least that'll put them on the map and we will never have to embarass ourselves asking people if they know days inn ever again lol. Sadly it is beyond all reasonable doubt that it is indeed the case the Pavement camp will be disbanding once again, it's enough to make a grown man cry isn't it? Not only was there that statement Malkmus made there's also a number of scathing reviews of live shows out there, even in the NME saying that SM had his back to all the others. Just checked the msg on los jicksters website. Pretty kool, as to be expected, but, I wish we could get a release date gosh-darn it! I hate to do this, but, could I impose and ask you to purchase another tick for the SY show? I invited gf along and for some reason since buying ours I can no longer do it on uni i'net (FFS!) At the moment I am all about Midnite Vultures! Digest that nugget of info matey boy (aka top neighbourino!)

Jimbo, I'm intrigued! I finally have you back as my closest neighbour. Do I have the privelege of being top of yr neighbours list now or is your list still made up of 50 people you don't know? Ed seems to have emmigrated from my neighbourhood, but, you never know he may return. My neighbourhood is forever changing. By the time you go to check if I'm top of yrs it may well have changed again, but, we will see... Also, I know this is ludicrously short notice and it may be a bit o' a hassle sorting transport (and possibly acomm too) but can I tempt you with the prospect of seeing Shearwater at the Manchester Deaf Institute on saturday? I know you said you have some stuff lined up for later in the week and it's entirely possible that after some investigation we may find it completely implausable to go, but, for now just let me know if you may be interested

I see R.E.M.'s debut 'Murmur' hooked you enough for you to listen to it all the way through in one sitting. The deluxe edition as well! That's a good couple hours listening right there. Still think they're a "Gary" band? I only have the original album, not the reissued gubbins with the live show. Did you invest in it or just check it out on old spotty? Such a brilliant album. You can't go far wrong with pre-major label R.E.M. and after that they're still not to be scoffed at, but, are good for different reasons.

Indeed chester uni was a well spotted error. I must not have been thinking at all when I was writing that message. I've even got an exam on that date! Utterly nonsensical suggestion :s When I checked out the clips of the Pavement first reunion show it brought a big smile to my face. It probably doesn't do it full justice, but, it is still sooo good and the thought I might be able to see them myself in a couple of months is just awesome. Few hilights from those klips - on stereo the hesitate you DIIIIIIIIIIEEEEE!!! Nastovich seems really energetic for this show and sort of goes a bit over the top with some of the backing vocals, and Malkmus' 'dancing' on "Cut Your Hair" - pure genius lol. It was an interesting move to do the first verse of Gold Soundz with just vocals.... I spotted in your recently listened lists that you've been listening to some of the later shows. I've been living by MES' advice-"life just bounces so don't you get worried at all"

I may have missed it since I don't stalk your profile (well not 24/7 anyway (lol)), but, I don't think I've seen LC!'s latest infiltrate yr listening lists yet. Would you be up to their 'homecoming' gig at Chester uni later in the year (can't remember when it is). I got the best news today...Exam timetables are out and about and my exams are on the 20th, 21st and 24th of May!...if I remember correctly. Any news on your front? And I know what you mean when you said a few messages back when this term is going to fly past. Where have the last one and a half months gone? Seems the closer we get to exams the faster time accelerates past us =(

Did I ever say / imply that being a historian was a bad thing? I still think that going the (ancient) history route could give me as much, if not more pleasure than my current escapades! No it was hard to turn my back on that idea, a good two years no less while deciding what I was gonna do at uni and I still look over my shoulder ocassionally. lol. Your move away from history is even more pronounced though. As a journalist I'll be writing tommorow's history! Maybe I'm just missing the link, but, your course choice seems rather unrelated. lol. There really is no getting away from facebook. Earlier this year I wasn't using it much and could stay off it, but, I'm sort of getting into the dangerously time consuming routine of periodically checking my hotmail and then facebook, even if I've had no notifications via e-mail that anything's changed. Gar! Computers! The cause of and solution to all life's problems! lol. Well welcome back to the flock you big conformist sell out! hahahahaha

Yep you're right there; pretty unsurprisingly the latest Built to Spill is missing from Spotify. Also lamentably absent is LC! - Romance is Boring, which I imagine you may like more than their previous offerings. I think your Bittersweet complaint will be less of an issue with this album. Musically you still have oodles of noise (perhaps more than ever) mixed with violins, pop horns and glockenspiels, but, in terms of vocal delivery and lyrical content it's a bit of a change. Practice is indeed the key thing so as it's personal development week this week (we don't have lectures) I booked up the studio both today and tommorow for a good few hours. Today's session went pretty well, got to grips with some ssynthesisers and started laying down some 'tasty break beats'! If we followed what we did best at GCSE tho we'd both be on the path to being historians right now!

The version of the new real fall LP I've been listening to might be a bit different to the the one you know and love. I found a site which has the original version which was never released because it was leaked online before released and MES pulled the album and completely remixed it. You probably know the story already being such a devoted fan... Uni's going pretty good. Been a bit scary having to do tasks on the keyboard when, as you may remember in music classes all I did was fool around, but, I think I'm gradually becoming more adept. My compositional skills and understanding of music theory are also still slightly lacking despite playing gtr for yrs as I would just play what sounded good rather than calculating note sequences that worked. I've got a bit of breathing space before any more assignments are due in so I've got time to practice. It's funny jan was really quiet socially (lot o' work tho), but, the calendar turned to feb and it's nite out after nite out!

Dude it is seriously scary how much correlation / coincidence there is in our listening habits. I listened to Preston School of Industry yesterday and when I log in today what do I see, but that's the last thing you've listened to! Falling Away is a brilliant song as well, was very tempted to bestow it with the ultimate privelege of belonging to my collection of loved songs. Have you heard Room To Live: Undilutable Slang Truth by the Fall? I'm undecided, but, I'm sort of thinking I actually prefer it to Perverted By Sound. It's definitely worth tracking down if you don't have it. From what I've read about it it seems to be generally overlooked, but, those that have taken the time to examine it have rated it has highly as Hex Enduction Hour (and rightly so I would say) To be honest I haven't been thinking about it, but, any epiphanies about what to do about Pavement? Oh and a question often neglected in these msgs. How's (uni) life treating you?

ah dude I know! when that came out in the US (flipping ages ago) I hunted high & low to try and find a reasonably priced import, but, to no avail. Listened to some of the tracks on myspace and they previewed one or two at outside lands and it definitely sounds like it's gonna b a gud'un. I didn't go and get LC! this morning in the end. I had a delivery to digest - Fall - Perverted by Sound (you missed my oh so clever wall post on fb lol) n' room to live: undilutable slang truth and also got Westing (By Musket and Sextant) as well as the pavement bio. Yeah even tho I only now use old facey for the bare minimum, it's still engraved deeply in the daily routine. Even if I got rid of it I know I would still be checking hotmail as soon as I logged on to a computer. Ah, it's good for once my music is the loudest in the hall! I feel like saying ha! Eat that bitches...just not to their faces :D I'm glad Dino Jr r going down well, altho was there ever any doubt they wouldn't?

Have you heard the new LC! yet? I've heard a little and should be heading into town to pick up a copy tommorow morning. What I heard sounded like it wasn't as energetic as their previous work, but, I can't imagine it being terrible. What I did get today and I'd highly recommend - The Moldy Peaches. On spotify they've only got a collection of demos and stuff, but, even that is excellent. Loving the latest solo album from one of the vocalists too - Adam Green. Well worth a listen, or ten!

A fairly comendable withdrawl I would say and an action I have oft considered undertaking myself, but, I figure it's not really doing any harm leaving it active. I've just been using it the bare minimum of late. The earliest musical recommendation I can think of is the Offspring. How good you'd consider that question all these years down the line may have diminished slightly, but, I still ocassionally show my appreciation for them, probably more than I ever did back then - at that stage getting into music was more about looking kool than properly pleasing my eardrums. Some of the riffing is pretty epic (oh damn! now I've got dammit I changed again stuck in my head lol). The Unfinished Bizness page is on viewable on myspace without an account.... I need to add us to last.fm! By this point I really should have some news about the Reef gig, but, dad decided he wasn't gonna call last weekend n' I'm low on credit =(

Dude! So I just log onto the old livre de visage and see I'm now down to 200 friends! Well after the initial shock, horror reaction as you may expect (lol) I forgot about it and continued what I went on to do, until I came to message you and that's where the dots connected - it was you who had vacated my friend list. Was that a concious decision JW, to ditch fb? I don't blame you - there are surely better uses for your time, but, I just did not expect it to be you who pulled the plug sir! I was just going to comment that I have it on good authority that Cpt. Squash wrote the piece surprisingly quickly (but he does like to boast a lot). I was thinking musically in terms of recommendations and I think it did possibly come before team buddies, tho i'm not certain. I've been in more of a Slanted & Enchanted mood recently, but, like anything else in the Pvmnt catalogue TT is undeniably brilliant, I still remember when we both sniggered at the suggestion it may be the best! Opinions change..

Yet another brilliant recommendation from mr Williams! Almost rivals the first recommendation you ever gave me (remember what that may have been JW?) I'm listening to Hex Induction Hour now, currently on fortress / deer park. How have I lived without this in my life til now!? lol. It just seems to be getting better and better the more I listen. I was going to listen to it earlier, but, when I loaded up Spotify this morning my Norton anti-virus decided that it was a trojan horse and deleted it! Tried downloading again, even scanned it before opening, all looked fine, but, oh no it's a trojan horse apparently. Just restarted and it's finally realised that Spotify isn't out to kill my laptop! Hmmm that's rather unfortunate about Deerhunter not being on spotify. What you can do tho is check out the atlas sound / deerhunter blogspot and have a trawl thru that - there's loads of demos available for download. http://deerhuntertheband.blogspot.com/

I don't know if you still stalk my profile at all (lol), but, this week I changed what my library displays to the past seven days, so, I could make you proud! The Fall are up there! I really need to get some of their earlier material. I am absolutely digging it! Looking at your charts it doesn't look like you looked into the other Deerhunter albums you asked me about. Williams, disappointing.... I remember you liked My Bloody Valentine a lot so you should check out Flying Saucer Attack. The only really difference is that they came from the UK!

cool I'll get those ordered up soon. Just realised I don't think I ever told you about the Liverpool Los Campesinos! gig in feb. I'd forgotten about it myself actually until I saw it on my page. That could be pretty awesome... I take it you will have taken your exam by now. How do you think you fared on that one? Sorry I wasn't on earlier to wish some good luck your way :( Our snow is turning icy now. I started of being safer to walk as cars got stuck in the snow now it's safer to drive as roads are pretty much only slush and the pavements are treacherous (too strong a word? maybe but they have caused me and my gripless shoes to slip all over the place. tbh Deerhunter haven't released much else a few EPs, one more album that's commercially available and a debut you won't find altho I see they have 1 track on here. You can't go wrong with any of them. Cryptograms is even more ambient w/ more instrumentals and minimal vox. Fluorescent Grey/Rainwater...=more similar to microcastle.

I think what you probably witnessed the other day was that I had ITunes DJ playing, but, muted it when I took a trip over to spotify to listen to some bands that garnered my attention through recommendation by this very site or it could just be that scrobbles for my iPod have just popped up in any random place...

Awesome man (well about the Reef decision, not about the freezing your ass off part). Do you want me to order the tix again? Did you have a look at the other tour dates? I just assumed Mannie would be the best, but, if there's another city that'd be easier to get to for you, or is just somewhere you'd like to go let me know becuz I'm fairly easy as long as it's on a good day. Have you had the joys of snow to lessen the unpleasantness of the temperature at all? We've had a thick blanket covering everything since tuesday and as it seems to be getting progressively colder it doesn't look like it's going to be disappearing any time soon. Glad you like Deerhunter. I wouldn't be surprised if they snuck their way into my top 8 artists before too long. I was giving My Bloody Valentine another blast the other day - a bit of loveless. My ear drums enjoyed the vibrations those sound waves bounced off them very much so.

be warned! with a few more listens you may well get bill gates must die stuck in your head! you may not be able to tell from my recently played (been old skool and listened on CD) but I've been falling in love w/ Wowee Zowee, Real Emotional Trash and Dirty all over again. Fave songs of the moment: At&T(a song I've overlooked in the past), Hopscotch Willie and Chapel Hill.
