Hello and Good Evening :) I'm a very nice separated man seeking companionship and TLC. I'm not looking to change your situation or mine. No drugs here. Musically, I enjoy smooth jazz, classical, 60's, 70's, and 80's. I also enjoy good movies, morning coffee, walks, drives, lots of affection, and massaging a ladies adorable feet and sucking on her cute little toes :) Just being nice means so much more than good looks to me.

YES I'M SUPER EXCITED WHEN MY RADIO STATION PLAYS 90S GRUNGE RECORDS. YES I'M SUPER EXCITED LISTENING TO BANDS WITH MY FRIENDS ABOUT HEROINE ABUSE, ISOLATION AND OTHER DEPRESSIVE THINGS. THE MUSIC'S THEME IS COMPLETELY LOST ON ME. BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER WHEN I'M SUCKING MY BFF OFF ON THEM BONES NOTHING MAKES ME HAPPIER. AFTER THAT THEY SEND ME TO THE ANGRY CHAIR WHERE I GRIND FOR THE REST OF THE EVENING. THERE'S ALWAYS SOME JUNKHEAD HANGING AROUND AND HE'S A REAL SICKMAN. SOMETIMES I JUST FEEL LIKE A MAN IN A BOX AND THEN I REMEMBER WE DIE YOUNG. IN A NUTSHELL I GUESS I'LL JUST BRUSH AWAY ANY NEGATIVE COMMENTS. CAUSE LAST.FM IS A SLUDGE FACTORY ANYWAYS. BUT I HAVE NO EXCUSES FOR THOSE MACHINE GUN KELLY SCROBBLES.

buttheadak wrote: yesterday afternoon why the hell are you going on loads of people pages spouting the same crap, Jimmy Page/Zeppelin are gods, why do you liten to modern crap, balh blah blah. It's pretty sad, i know your trying to be ironic by listening to them so much, saying, look at me, i'm really cool i don't conform to modern music etc etc. It's pretty sad really, and it takes a very small minded person to be like that. People can listen to what they like, they don't need your badly misplaced judgements on their tastes. Variety is the spice of life, and there is so much good music out there, to sum it up, you really do act your age, childish.

There's a lot of demand for Regressive Rock these days. Back in the '80s, it was different. People wanted something hidebound and ancient with the appearance of modernity, so you got rock icons Huey Newis and the Lews expounding on the "heart of rock 'n roll". Newis was the man they wished to summon while burning disco records at Comiskey Park. However, Newis is too sophisticated, too aware and nuanced, for today's rock fanatics. They do not wish to be suave and cultured like Patrick Bateman, but shirtless, red, and angry. The only thing they will accept is paint-by-numbers versions of Led Zepplin. Greta Van Fleet are the only thing that can save them from the existential threat posed by trans deep house.

i posted this on my own shoutbox at first and meant to post it here :p So we've briefly touched on classic rock and the jazz. what about the pop-gals on your list (gaga, marina, lana) ? How did you get into them? Fun facts, when I first told you about Brooklyn I was just finishing the /user set that has the song and the reason I had listen to Froot was because of the very first /user in the list.

There are many methods I use to look for new music. One of them pertains to the link I sent you. Only the direct page I linked you is relevant to this explanation, the other parts to that site relate to other music things. Anyways, The items you see in the /users page contains a list of last.fm members broken down into two section. "Active" has users that I'm currently in the process of listening to the music of, "Archive" has users that I have completed the process. The listening process goes as such: each user has the top track of each time span segment on last.fm (7 days, 30 days, etc.) included in the list. For each song I listen to it a minimum of ten times. This is done for each user. So you can see that all the users in "Archive" has each track scrobbled a minimum of 10 times (the info is taken directly from last.fm). All tracks on all list are songs I have never listened to before, I never choose songs that I have heard before in the spirit of discovery, so more than 10 plays..

...of a song mean I found it from another user and really loved it. This doesn't mean songs that only have 10 plays I didn't like. So the questions I've been asking you partially relate to this discovery method. One of the problems I was having was that I was running into users that would have interesting libraries but the top track time spans wouldn't give me much of a story. For example, intriguing users would have top tracks for a few of the times spans to have a low count, say less than 10, and it would be distributed among many songs. So I was confused by this, I wanted to add users to this discovery method but I wasn't sure how I would add them. I began battling with this and trying to look at the data in music libraries in different ways, again I would only focus on top track and top tracks only. What I began to notice is the album plays tell a better story for users that tended to have a low top track play count. This understanding actually began to unfold late Dec/early Jan...

...and I actually added 2 of those types of users in the current "Active" roster. The questions I had were to help me in some ways to understand the data a bit more. Your answers definitely did help me understand it much more and I do appreciate it. With all that said, I would like to stress that taking this music discovery approach I take aside, I was also just naturally curious to know more about the method you take music. I'm always interested in learning about a persons musical story and the journey they take to enjoy the music they like. So thanks and I'm sorry to bore you with the mundane details of this process.

The next question would be about how you would emphasis your time spans in regards to the music you listen to. So to make the question easier for me to explain, for your 90 days listening charts, what would be a proper summation of the artist that are on the top of the list? Would you place more emphasis on the top played albums, top played songs, or a mixture of both?

I'll start off by saying that these questions come from a curious perspective. I'm not looking to critique, I'm just genuinely intrigued to know a bit more of your listening method. Just placing this statement as a caveat in case one of my query's is worded negatively or improperly standoffish. So the first question I have is some albums you have contains tracks that have a much higher play count than others from the same album. Logically this would dictate that you liked the song quite a bit. So how does a song for you break the album tradition and have unique individual plays?

I figured it would be fair to share one of my own tracks. Eyes to the Wind by The War on Drugs. Based off certain artist in your list you might like it... or you might hate it... or you might think it's ok.

Are trying to say that TOOl sucks? Crimson King sounds solid, but TOOL is MILESTONE away from Crimson King. TOOL group has a tight production, and tight sound, not to mention that their songs are heavy and progressive. Their lyrics are more progressive than the songs that the Crimson King group wrote. Crimson King doesn't own this type of sound that the TOOL group owns, comparing TOOL with Crimson King is the dumbest move you've ever done in your life. Excellent trolling work you did 10/10.
