How was it? I'm hoping to go to the London one in April, kind of excited but nervous at the risk of it being disappointing. The setlist for SD looked good though.

It might be only a matter of personal taste... some people certainly love Vintersongs voice... I am not among them obviously:D All songs with him just.... just sound the same. No matter in what band he is. Its sad because he is otherwise quite talented fella. The main problem of new B. album is certainly three singers with similar scale, I think we can agree on that:D

wow... well... fuck, I envy you:D Norway is unfortunately quite distance for me, maybe they will play in Germany soon... The Borknagar thing... I was very happy that Vortex is in proper line-up now... and face it, the new CD is not bad at all...but Vintersorg should give up all clean lines, now when the band has two of the most unique singers to be found. Harsh vocals are fine, imho. Three singers are too much, especially when the third one is Vintersorg:D

Thanks for your wishes and definitely thanks for listening:D we never aspired to be inovative. Only goal is to play music that we personaly like. New things will be something along that Leland piece, that's the newest song (and only song that is composed by me so far, all others have only my guitar added... and all lyrics are mine). But this band isn't all, I have my own project, electro/neofolk/neoclassical stuff... but all in the stage of preparations. My main goal is to find someone who will be able to give my compositions and ideas the right sound... I had one guy, very talented and able, but he was otherwise kinda asshole

about bands... I don't know exactly, most of them I just discovered in your library too...but try Celeste and Cleric, from the top of my head. In fact I listen to classic composers lately, mostly Liszt and Dvořák... and my own stuff, thats kinda my guilty egocentric pleasure. I have no time to discover new things in music, unfortunately, I must read alot and write as well. And about band... we have some recordings, but no demo or something like that... I may give you a link to soundcloud with the recording of our gig from last weekend if you want, but its quite a mess

Yup, it's really really growing on me. I think like a lot of Solefald's work - it takes a while to truly understand what is happening with the music. Then again maybe I am just still a huge Solefald fangirl and I'm just being biased? :(

A lot of them are jokes. Vikings are alright but I just hate seeing every kid who listens to a bit of Viking Metal claiming they are some sort of super cool modern Viking. I never said I had 'viking' heritage, but my family is mostly Nordic/Celtic or w/e so that's my only connection to it I guess.

The only way they can tell if you're a mean old pirate or not is when you listen to albums before they are actually released. / When a person becomes famous, I'm sure there are many 'kind' people who will create facebook, myspace and all other possible accounts for them. I keep a very small circle of very close friends and we have a blast when we get together. The average FB user sits there on a Saturday evening, all dressed up, looking through his/her 500 friends and trying to get a group of people together so they could drink themselves numb. Sometimes the user fails to find these people and ends up drinking alone. Kinda sad, imo. Let me give you another example... this couple I know. They work in the same place and after work spend their time FB-g with 2 dif. computers (at least 3-4 hours a day). They even have really aggressive arguments about FB like 'I didn't post that comment' and 'I dont know why he added me'. Maybe I'm just old school, but that aint passion, man.

I thought the audioscrobbler sends out only the artist, song title, length and album. It shouldn't send the file format. Besides, 90% of my music library is in lossless anyway and well... pretty obscure. People who get caught with piracy are the ones who download Metallica. In France. The line of work I have chosen (audiovisual media student) requires me to be a bit paranoid about my public image and same can be said for my significant other (law student). The latest South Park episode was about facebook btw. Nice parody, like always.

Oh, and whenever anyone posts their CD-s, I always have the tendency to invite them to MeTaLMaDNeSS.TeaM or ask if they could share some their stuff in lossless.

I'm trying to share as little personal information as possible over the internet. Did you know Facebook's user agreement says that they can keep all your personal information and sell you whatever they wish, even after you've deleted your account? While I'm pretty sure RYM is a 'good' company, people can make the wrong decisions when looking at your ratings. I, for example buy albums that I really like (and there's plenty of them), so all my ratings would be between 4-5 stars. Others might not realise I steer clear of crap and think I rate albums too high. Someone like you, who has fairly varied reviews for hundreds of cd-s and vinyls - the visitor might think you randomly buy stuff that turns out to be average or less-than-average. Of course this is just others opinion, but if you don't care about that, you can keep a list on piece paper as well, can't you?

You were right. 'Secret South' is magical. It is rather different from previous two albums, but I enjoy it all the same. This will be the only 16HP album which I will buy (mostly because I now think I should own an album by each of my artists in my library, but also because this was the only album which I couldn't find in lossless). I looked into some the 16HP influences and while The Gun Club is pretty good, Joy Division is going to be the next big non-metal thing for me.

Do you know Masters Hammer? It's a bit early to say... I've only discovered the first two albums so far. After I heard the debut I thought the next album can't possibly be any better, but it was... For Heaven's Sake, Phyllis Ruth, Ditch Digger come to mind. Why does this band appeal to you? Or more importantly why do you think it appeals to 'metalheads'?

Ja det synes jeg da. Men å høre dem på skive (ligger på spotify) er ikke i nærheten av å se dem live. Aner ikke om det skulle være noe for deg heller for den saks skyld. De er to stykk, en på trommer og en på baritongitar (og ørten pedaler). Ekstem metall med frijazz holdning. Sett dem tre ganger og alle har vært av de mer ekstreme konsertopplevelsene jeg har hatt. Synes enda det er absurd at trommisen er trommisen fra Gåte. Om du skulle ha sjansen til å se dem live anbefaler jeg det i alle fall.

Så 10 minutter ca. Virka greit, men mer fokus på show enn musikk. Og siden jeg var utslitt prioriterte jeg å gå til Blæst (hvor Monolithic skulle spille) for å finne meg en plass å sitte.

Nei ikke bedre enn Lillehammer. Men hadde det tekniske vært i orden, og theremin-dama vært der hadde det nok kunnet være i nærheten... Men festival i seg selv ødelegger jo mye. Er jo rett og slett dårligere forhold. Både lydmessig og pågrunn av fulle folk etc. Tror du kan være glad du ikke reiste oppover i alle fall. Hadde blitt småskuffet om jeg reiste bare for Ulver, og måtte se dem gå av scenen halvveis pågrunn av tekniske problemer. De kom riktignok på igjen, men virket ikke som festivalen prioriterte å få ting gjort på en av de mindre scenene... Turen var uansett verdt det for min del. Fikk jo sett Jaga Jazzist og Monolithic også så. Si ifra om du finner Blood Flowers da!
