I am not a MySpace basher (because if i don't want to I just don't go there) but doesn't MySpace scares you a little bit? Or is it that I am already old (37) and missing some point? For me visiting MySpace pages is really close to get my eyes, ears (and other sensens) cyberraped. Social communities are like growing from small little towns with friendly people who want to know and want to meet\greet each other...and before you know it...your little hut gets demolished to make room for Metropolis?

It is not just about Chernibog! (this is by the way still promotion ;)) His way (promotion by just getting friends requests) is on the very mild side of the spectrum. [To set the record straight: Chernibog is NOT using the shoutbox!!] I got a lot of reactions taking a small stance on this matter...on what you call the "sanctity" of last.fm. Indie or not, the traditional ways to reach a widely dispersed (international) audience (in the long-tail) are not efficient (on lower scales and volumes) so commercial and non-commercial organizations or groups are looking for new ways... So far so good... it is all about evolution..By allowing it (self promotion) to be done in a social community [by initially all means necessary] is potentially a gliding scale. In a still growing community we need some form of self-organization on this matter the rest of this discussion is about tasteand I just don't like (self-) promotion a lot. But I don't blame the entrepreneurs per se..

HerrAndrusz. I don't know if you noticed: the world is full of advertisements wherever you look. Now it is even spreading like a virus through social communities. Chernibog is NOT the only one. The shoutbox is not ment to be used as a sales medium. If this kind of behaviour multiplies and every (indie) artist or label aggresively hunt for ad space on Last.fm's social features it is the end of last.fm as a music haven. Please understand this.

"Does anyone here know the DJ? Acucrack song that features the repetitive lyrics that go "I just came to fuck it up!" I heard it when I saw them live...but it's on none of their albums as far as I can tell...What's the name of the song, I've been trying to find it forever!" <- You probably mean "Nation State" ;-) Cheers!

Good to have another friend added, despite Very Low musical compatibility. Hahaha, that's cool though. I see you've listened to the Kinks and Sonic Youth, which is excellent.
