Congratulations on obtaining already your ">100k scrobbles" milestone :-) ... I saw us both in the "Scrobble Leaderboard" section (Oct. 2-8): last DOT fm/user/polywog/listening-report/week ... How are you doing on your side of the globe at the moment? I assume you too avoid public crowds recently in these Corona virus times, as we also here in Germany ... Stay safe, and let the tracks keep us company in these "appalling" times, Zack

Well, for the avant-garde movement you could always look in to really weird shit like That 1 Guy, Stalaggh, and Gulaggh. For Avant-garde metal you could do uh... UneXpect, Dir en Grey's album "Uroboros" (which isn't that avant-garde but it helps), and Sigh (If you like Black Metal). I would also highly recc. Atmospheric black metal, and my fav band in that category is Vattnet Viskar!

I've got a few Primus and FotC scrobbles under my belt but I'll probably go check out more of their stuff. I have a copy of Album Raises New and Troubling Questions, but I feel like that wasn't a very good starting point for They Might Be Giants; is there another album you recommend I start with? I'll definitely check out the other stuff you mentioned, too.

Well, hmm. If you like post-hardcore with heavy electronic elements, you might enjoy Enter Shikari. They sound kind of similar to HORSE the band. Also, for hip-hop, I think you might like Deltron 3030. They have the nerdcore-like premise of a mech soldier and hacker in the year 3030 fighting against a world government with rap battles, but it's done very seriously, and it's also /mu/ approved.

/mu/ hates nerdcore because they hate fun non-serious albums. You seem like a pretty cool guy though.

I'd probably recommend people start with something neutral like The Beatles or The Beach Boys if it was the first band they were ever gonna listen to. Although I'm not a megafan of either. What would you pick?
