I haven't paid any attention to my shoutbox in a very long time... Hello Helio! :) Music plays all day long and it's usually ambient/lofi or classical as of...the last couple of years lol Reached a life stage that appreciates calm. Thanks for the shout...I will look into your recommendation. cheers!

What's the story with Hayden Pedigo? Do you know why that guy is wearing corpse paint? Are all the songs instrumentals? I looked at the "Letting Go" video from the site.

He's an artist that blends finger picking style guitar music with ambient. So he's playing country/americana and presents himself in 'cowboy' attire but also blends more avantgarde music into it. Chat Pile, one of the more recently popular industrial/noise/sludge metal acts is releasing an album with him soon which also shows Hayden is aware of way more outside the music he's released himself. So the album cover with the corpse painted figure on it and a truck probably tragicomically juxtaposes his liking of extreme music with his Texan country background. I hadn't even heard of him until Chat Pile posted their new single but after reading up, he's quite the character. Apparently he ran for city council as a form of political protest, haven't watched that documentary yet. Seeing as Chat Pile makes politically charged music I guess that's another overlap. Excited to hear what the blend of these two artist will sound like.

That is a good way to meet like-minded people. The intersection of Discord degenerate with matching tastes on LFM is a powerful one. I will definitely check that out, thank you for the rec! For some reason I am especially receptive right now to just random stuff that people throw my way. I became lazy with my habits for a long time, every year the graph falls down a bit more on this website, but so far this year I'm stretching my legs again.

Hiya! I do? That is awesome. I just checked that fmbot channel out to have a look, I don't actually use the server but it's nice to have it around. My profile is probably a bit atrocious compared to what you were expecting LOL! Totally destroyed.

Thanks, hope you have a good year too! I was thinking the same thing but the listening reports just got updated haha Nothing shocking...though I am more than 60% percent mainstream so yeah if anyone ever calls me a snob or hipster I can proof to them I'm not! ;)

I am trying to revive my love for this site - still can't scrobble from iTunes anymore - no idea why it doesn't work :( I try and play through the site (my library)...and will only play for a couple of hours then stops. Would love to go back to the old easy days...! Hope you are keeping well :)

I don't use itunes so I can't help you there...maybe try a separate scrobbling client? I've switched over to Spotify for my music, I didn't think it would be this quick but I'm rarely playing audio files or cd's any more. I'm okay, you too? I've seen Slowdive live last week, it was incredible!

Hi there! Just saw your Dowland shout and since it's just after its 2nd anniversary I thought I'd respond:) Hopkinson Smith has recorded some good Renaissance/Baroque stuff for lute, including lots of Dowland. I'd also recomend his recordings of Kapsberger and de Visee.

Aaah I think I know him or heard him play on the Hespèrion XX albums with Jordi Savall! Thanks for the recommendation! I will check out his solo stuff. Anything I can help you out with, looking for a certain something something?

Well, if you could recommend me some electroacoustic/electronically filtered jazz - something in the vein of Jon Hassell or Eberhard Weber - that'd be nice:)

Well, Kamashi Washington is all the hype atm. though his music is rather funk, gospel oriented as well. I wanted to recommend Colin Stetson (obviously) when you mentioned Hassell but yeah haha you are familiar with him. Hmmm Zorn was another......well there's one that didn't pop up in your list but you probably know....Bohren & der club of gore. Awesome blend of dark, tantalising, slowly creeping jazz with ambient/analog noise. Go with Sunset Mission, it's my fav. album of theirs. Jaga Jazzist is probably closer to what you want though, like all of their albums tbh. tho the first album I head was actually their 'In The Fishtank' collab with Motorpsycho. (really amazing collab series btw if you haven't checked those albums out, lots of stellar artists of all genres experimenting together). The Cinematic Orchestra is another great one, check out Every Day. Maybe try New Cool Collective's Out Of Office if you want something lighter and funky.

There's a few names on the tip of my tongue but it has been a while since I dug into progressive/nu jazz, thanks for reminding me though...will let you know when I find them in my music collection.

Thanks a lot mate! Indeed, I'm familiar with most of those names - btw, I think that Stetson's last is a gem. Need to check out Jaga Jazzist - that's for sure - and dig deeper into Cinematic Orchestra - think I heard only several songs of theirs. I am currently searching in the jazz/ambient than jazz/funk territory. If you're into that sort of stuff, do check out Kopernik's S/T: https://goo.gl/3mSTqD Probably more ambient than jazz but man, would I love to hear more stuff like this:) Unfortunately Kopernik seem to have disappeared. They did some side projects later but never released anything on par with that album. And that's a goddamn shame...

Thanks! Actually just came back from a festival, saw loads of cool acts/bands but IDLES was by far the most impressive live band. Noisy, in-your-face punk from the UK Bristol scene. Really, really good. Haven't been to as many concerts as last year but most recently did catch Uniform and The Body. Been playing Uniform over and over, not sure if I'd recommend them to you as they are pretty extreme but ah well Killing of America is definitely a killer track with an interesting message in it's video that you could check out. Looking forward to see Slowdive live but that is still miles away somewhere in november. Did you see or hear anything good? Hope you're having a good summer too! Did you migrate to another website btw?

Well it sounds like you were having a good summer as of July 21...I hope that continued! I saw Iron Maiden and Metallica in July; same weekend back to back shows = absolutely amazing. Seeing Lady Gaga tomorrow which is off kilter for me, however the tickets are free so hard to pass up. I hear she puts on a great show. I"m not using any online sites to track my listening anymore...I've started to stream more as well so not using my library as much. Such a sad reality...I thought last.fm would...last forever :) Nothing does though........! I'll be sure to check out that video you mentioned. Loads of artists are having a laugh at POTUS Trump = he gives us many opportunities to do so lol I've actually ramped up my video game playing since losing last.fm. Still have music playing in the background...however killing people with sniper rifles at the same time LOL :P

Looking for a bit of post-punk type stuff that I am getting into recently. Also some good modern black metal if you have any suggestions?
