Haha no problem, I'm sorry it's too complicated to go to RIO then. I don't know if I'll go either since I don't live in France this year, but damn I really want to just for Magma, same as you :D ! 2 years ago I saw Magma indeed, but at the time I haven't listened to it much. However that was already extremely intense and I went into a trance during the whole concert. Since this show I am really into it so I reaaally want to see them again ! (and I would die for seeing Mekanik Destrukiw Komandoh) So yes, I saw that they are doing a couple of show in France after RIO so, I will definetely see them this year.

HAHAHA. Can't get enough of it. Black Metal people/bands ( mainly post 1994) are a bunch of poser fags, that look unintentionally hilarious and childish. The original Black Metal movement was about rebelling against trendy death metal (people like Fenriz of Darkthrone and Varg of Burzum, and Mayhem, were pretty good and honest). But eventually Black metal became a trend, and idiot losers copied the sound, instead of trying to understand the 'raison d'etre' of Black Metal. I like this song- but the video is a great example of how these people are a big bunch of fags.

Hey! I have not been that active on last.fm for a while, so I did not see your response before now. But no worries mate! And I'm happy that you now actually enjoy an album you thought were sellout earlier! Happy new year!

Thanks for the compliment about my English, but the fact is it can be way better. I had a wonderful day yesterday; the weird thing about me is that when nice things start happening to me, it becomes a never ending circle, this month is an example (touch wood, haha :))) and I am just so happy. I've seen your new profile introduction, it's interesting although Nietzsche and I hate each other, haha. I really dislike him, but he was right there. You've probably heard this before, but I love it and can't help it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sw1weml0-r0

Oh, you. :) Thanks for your lovely compliments, Ryan. I am writing something, actually, and I was about to PM you about it tonight, but then I was like :''Nah, finish it first, Ivana.'' I am interested in so many music genres and still searching new ones ( I know that my English is pretty shitty here, I'm tired tonight, I was preparing my ''slava'', a Serbian custom, and mine is tomorrow, long story), anyway, you HAVE TO forgive me my silly grammar mistake made here, haha. :P I agree with Stravinsky about that quote of his you've mentioned. But, hey, who is understood completely? It is worring if you are understood. I prefer hiding my madness and secretly enjoying in it, hah. Oh, before I forget, I must say that your Serbian is quite cute. ;)

Heh, what a question about Stravinsky. In the spring last year I was quite obsessed with Stravinsky's work and character. So, yeah, ''The rite of spring'' is one of my favorite pieces ever, too. I'm glad it made your day, it made mine too (although I was very happy anyway ;)) but waltzs music is exactly the type of classical music that always puts me in my best mood. I have to add that I'm quite surprised you like Stravinsky, he was a Slav ( so his music is closer to me than to you), plus he was misunderstood back then and I think that even nowadays he is, I think that there are people who listen to his music and still can't understand it and him as an artist.

you know that film idea we talked about with music becoming increasingly digital yada yada, and there being a guy (you?) who hunts down all the remaining physical music releases? should totally be called 'The Final Vinyl' haha :D I copyright the idea so nyeh! Anyway, how're you man? A few months have passed rather quickly since we last caught up and wondering how you're doing?

Haha, don't patronise me you son of a bitch :p I'm doing a time-lapse photo thing of my own face atm, 334 days done so far! Sadly that's as far as my photography goes recently. Of course man, your uni work takes precedence but just figured I'd remind you of it in case you're still interested. Just let me know by email or text or whatever if you're going for it! Sounds goooood man, on an upward spiral it seems :D Saw Kvelertak last week, really good show! I'm pretty good myself though, still plotting all sorts of things but I won't the the classic blab what I intend on doing since I only ever get round to accomplishing half of it and make myself look a fool, heh. Trying to motivate myself for a few things like moving and getting in with some design companies in the midlands but only time will tell! Time is just drifting by at such a fast rate it's tricky to keep track...

Three thoughts dude a) you vaguely tempted with that Assymetry festival I mentioned a while back? I might end up going FOR REAL so figured I might as well ask! b) forgot the name of that game you were playing from the app store but you should get Team Fortress 2 via steam since it's free and awesome, you'd like it! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l62OY19rZ7k) c) HOW ARE YOU?

110% agree with you there man, I believe the promoters are too busy with their heads up each others arses to notice how the quality of the festival lineup is steadily declining year on year. Haha, I like your optimism!! I'm very tempted to go - just totalling up how much it'd cost for whole adventure so far

Yeah - I'm a sucker for most good sludge (or post-metal for that matter) but I'm sure in about 10 years time I'll look back and cringe at my past music taste, which explains why I've reset my last.fm charts a fair few times out of shame :p I'll look to check that out dude, the amount of stuff I've been listening to has gone down recently - seems to go hand in hand with the fact I've been to so few gigs recently. Hopefully can change that in the coming weeks! I'm a little hit and miss with Katatonia, feels like something I've gotten fedup with in the past and have since moved on.... hah. And yeah, definitely have to catch up sometime over a few pints :)

So I finally got to listen to Paatos! And it's just great, thanks again for the suggestion. Also, today I received my copy of the RIO documentary Romantic Warriors II and I must say it's very nicely done. Packed with lots of iteresting facts about the movement and the participating bands, how they supported each other and where is it all going today. Even though I haven't discovered any new inspiration since I already knew most of the groups mentioned, I've been once again convinced that it is absolutely necessary to make a trip to Carmaux someday and see the RIO festival live!

Sure, you're welcome! I have to thank you as well for recommending me Anekdoten. So many excellent bands coming from Sweden... unbelievable. I'm really beginning to think there is no such thing as bad music in Scandinavia. :-D And it's pretty clear now that we indeed have very similar taste. So, perhaps you could share with me some more ideas as to what I should listen to? :)

So, Nucleus... pretty great. I'll need some time to fully absorb it, but that's just the way it is with prog. I'm sure it will get even better and better with every listen. :) Well, Czech bands, let me see: you could try Už jsme doma for example, if you are in a mood for some avantgarde. Then there is Modern Day Babylon, probably the only "djent" band from our country but pretty good one. Oh and I should definitely mention Jan Hammer. You probably know him as a member of the first incarnation of Mahavishnu Orchestra. He lives in the U.S. but comes from Prague. Some of his earlier solo albums are worth checking. The First Seven Days, Like Children (with Jerry Goodman), Oh Yeah?, Melodies, Jeff Beck with the Jan Hammer Group Live... to name just a few. :D

Hahah, I know the feeling. First you think you're alone, then after a while you start to meet people who seem exactly the same. :D And they are mostly musicians. Alrighty then, I'll try some Anekdoten. Oh, and you should check out some more Koenji. That's something my friend told me after checking your library. :D He's very fond of Japanese zeuhl and the culture in general. And I agree, there are some very nice recordings such as the new remaster of Nivraym. Also - Pochakaite Malko, really interesting avant zeuhl with some Eastern European folk influences (the name is actually "wait a bit" in Bulgarian). My last tip would be a British band - Cardiacs. It's something like progressive punk they say. Absolutely unique, catchy, grotesque (in a Zappa-ish way you could say :D). Well, I'll be proggin as usual... maybe even more. Have a nice day.

Actually, I'm not going probably... I've got one friend who would come with me but only if there was Yoshida or at least Univers Zero. :D And it don't feel like going there by myself even though Magma and especially Thinking Plague are among my favourites. Right now I'd very much like to see GBS (I've actually written them an email asking whether they'd come to the Czech Republic, and they just might this autumn! :D), Koenjihyakkei would be awesome and of course Univers Zero. I love chamber rock. It could have something to do with my classical education and obsession with complex rhythms. :-D Then there's my recent obsession with tech/extreme prog metal (if I stick to the progarchives labeling) that means Animals as Leaders, Meshuggah and such. Opeth was the reason I started to seriously dive into the heavier music and it was a spectacular journey so far. Yes, I've heard of Anekdoten but haven't started to explore them properly. Any album you'd recommend in particular?

OI OI - you might possibly like the 2012 album from The Samuel Jackson Five (incorrectly uploaded as 'The Samuel Jackson 5' on spotify). Only on my first listen but seems pretty solid and reminds me a tiny bit of Jaga occasionally! I am more easily satisfied than you musically speaking though so we'll see :p

Ok - you be the crazy, senile one and I'll just be grumpy old pleb who grumbles at everyone, with a remarkably cynical outlook on the world; spot on if I may say so myself! I've definitely heard that before heh, it's a pretty nice lineup but kind of lacks that 'wow' that'd make me instantly buy a ticket right this moment. It's also roughly around the right time of the year to see the Aurora Borealis too (I think?!) so I am still tempted though. Oh? Sounds like it's all work work work then - make sure to take the occasional ale-day off dude! :D

Coolio! Well it has been like 9ish months now? Incredible how quickly that has gone by though, I am definitely going to be a senile old man before I know it! I will however email you at some point this week and if I don't, I deserve a massive slap round the head for motivation. Oh yes yes yes, I'd like to go but there's a massive conflict of interest - going to Bestival, going to Iceland Airwaves or getting a deposit down for a place to live. Super-mega-hard decision if I've ever had to make one. What about you - surely you've got travel plans for this year?

Your apathy to get in touch really reminds me of myself sometimes hahaha! Yep, either a weekend or single day are both viable - I would imagine a lot hinges on the weather too, I mean nothing beats a nice, wet and cold day in Nottingham or Lincoln eh? ;) I'm just a little occupied at the start of July I think but otherwise pretty free overall! I'll probably email you about this 'soon' so I get the chance to see when might be best. Let's hope my memory doesn't fail us this time :D

lmao Gentle Giant got on the Whistle Test!? Bob Harris must've loved that! Ever heard Broselmaschine? Germans always had the best names (I'm still waiting for the day I find a band called THEHELICOPTER or LOUDNOISE ;D) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OscIpNOpuJ0 ach, sw wasn't too bad, i've just seen him better that's all (Deadwing tour was the peak, seems to have disappeared up his own arse since then)

Well SW was a little disappointing. Whole band played behind a screen/QUILT of Lasse Hoile images for the first 25 minutes (when it came down the whole venue cheered hahahah), and then Steven decided to become a flamboyant frontman by dancing about like Freddie Mercury. Not sure the dance moves work for him! Oh man though, this lad on the Megabus: "YEAH I'VE BEEN LISTENING TO A LOT OF LIMP BIZKIT LATELY. I like them because they're forgotten and unknown!"

Well Black metal as whole seems wasted on me, I think my music taste is pretty broad but it just seems too abrasive. I mean like I've said before there are some exceptions but that's purely because they fuse black metal with other genres and it's simply more varied and interesting. Varg being the weird guy that he is sort of put me off from the word go anyway hahaha...I guess I'll just stick to what I'm comfortable with ;) The main thing (musically speaking) that I'm looking forward to is a new Igorrr album late this year, hope his material will be as insane as ever! Cool, well just drop us a shout by whatever means man, been over half a year already!

Oh? As far as I was concerned they were taking a break as a band, guess it goes to show how much I pay attention ;) Will be happy to check that out though, cheers! Haha - I'd rather you spoke your mind that sugar coating everything like everyone does out there - some bands are just very mediocre full stop! Oh yeah - what do you think to Burzum's 2012? I STILL don't get it, I wonder if I ever will hahaha! Glad you like it man, it seems like a pretty solid album and much more of an album piece rather than a series of songs bundled together which is how it felt last time (although I still loved it!). Quite unimpressed overall with Supersonic too, I do hope they pull their fingers out and get some belters playing but I'm kinda doubtful - a shame but I've got better things to spend my money on. Like you said, not heard of most of the announced acts either, surprise surprise. Yeah man! Let us know what'd be a good weekend for you and let's sort something out finally heh!

Elbow is a decent shout actually! God though, I saw them back in 03 or 04 supporting Muse and they were horrifically boring (both of them). There's something about Thee More Shadows that reminds me of the band Brand New for some reason, if you take away the emo bollocks that holds them back. This is the best thing off Storm Corrosion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qtQ2-5wWP8 Can't quite place it though (not that you'd want to!), it's not quite post rock and it's not quite Portishead or No-Man. hmmmmmm

Weather Systems is painfully average, it's a shame. I'm not sure if it's because it's followed one of the greatest albums of the decade or if it's just shit. Basically sounds like Angels & Airwaves with a scouser! hahahahah. The Storm Corrosion album is pretty good though, worth getting for the last track alone, and very King Crimson-ish in places (though not nearly anywhere as "experimental" as SW would have us believe). The London gig should be good fun, even if the solo Megabus ride is gonna ruin me for weeks! Completely addicted to this band right now, you heard? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gjLOJ3ETnw

Yup, that's sort of what I thought of Sólstafir which is why I thought you'd like it :p I'm still not a fan for anything Burzum-esque - there's some black metal I like but it's a tiny group of musicians I'd say. I'll admit firing suggestions at you can be a little hard ;) Uhm... yeah, about that release date haha. I like to try before I buy ok? It's alright though, definitely not his best and there's a lot of tracks on there that just feel like Aphex tributes. I still enjoyed it though so it's a worth a listen whenever you get the chance. Much more of a standard D'n'B feel to it in some ways and a distinct lack of tasty jazziness. How about this:- new Nedry album is out? That might float your boat! And whatcha think of the Supersonic preliminary lineup? Quite disappointed considering it's their 10th birthday!

Still learning. Loads of great music you've got there. I'm pretty surprised to see all this swedish stuff - here in Poland it's still quite obscure.
