I've seen that three times not including myself.

Avant-Garde means you're pushing the boundaries, or moving from the social norm. You aren't really moving from the social norm, you're just talking about Frank Zappa backing band as if it was more important than Zappa himself.

Why would you specifically label the Frank Zappa albums as Mothers of Invention album? I'd imagine you would label them as either Frank Zappa and The Mother of Invention, or just Frank Zappa.
