I ended up missing the Jens Lekman show but bought tickets to his other upcoming show in London in August. I'll take leave for that one. I got this cool app called Songkick which aggregates my music (from last.fm) and lets me know when shows are coming up. You listen to Yo La Tengo? They're from Jersey and it would be a dream to see them. Dylan will be here soon but I don't have it in me to watch him, I liked him pre-Desire. Hope all is well!

LIRR to Lindenhurst is long but serene. The announcements go off too often, the information bar that reads LCD is slightly lagging behind the voice. It's all very compelling. I know that exact door you refer to and it gives me an intimacy with you I've never had. We've walked through the same gate, past the same street vendors, perhaps. I envy you and your city-like ways. I'm back downstate Michigan now, having quit. I must admit, even before meditation, I knew I wouldn't feel your vibes. I'm too self-absorbed. If even I feel an inkling, a suspicion of ethereal contact from another soul, I deny it as just my own imagination. Consequently, I deny most of my spiritual experiences. Though, I can't deny the time I reached the breathless state. Concerning the Mormon play: I, too, was initially interested but it just seems too crude. Namely, some lines picked up from the new New Yorker: "F*** You, God, in the ass, mouth, and c***!" "My name is Joseph Smit'. I'm going to f*** this baby." :o

Long Island, currently, I think, is where my heart is. Getting on the LIRR from Port Authority was a whole jumble of intensity but then I came to unwind, unravel, and accept myself in the suburbs, a really cool part of NY. I'm apparently still "just listening" to Camera Obscura but I can't even recall the Dory Previn song. Unfortunately. My computer and slow internet don't allow me to go on the computer too frequently, so I have to meditate instead. I'm glad. And when I go back home I hope to be even less listening to last.fm. And, unfortunately, it will listen less to me. Bye GallopingManic, I hope NY is treating you well. I subscribe to the New Yorker now. And I highly advise you to stay away from that new play from Matt and Trey Parker.

Oh, it all goes well. It's heart-warming to hear from you again. I don't listen to much music anymore. Last night some Claude Debussy, other nights Beethoven's Symphonies. I'm at a Yoga retreat and am basically a hermit. I was in New York a week ago, Long Island specifically. Madison Square Garden was appealing in the way it made me feel miniscule and insignificant. Then it made me feel overly self-conscious. I went into Borders and read the first few chapters of Infinite Jest. There's a lot of nice legs in New York proper. Eerily my last.fm shows I just listened to Camera Obscura but I think I only thought of listening to Camera Obscura. Suspended from Class. Haven't got the last.fm software anymore. Thanks for acknowledging me.

Your picture, of a grizzly bear, accentuates the very exact reason I find the grizzly bear the greatest beast of nature. Although it has the capacity to tear you apart at the limbs, and eat you whole, and munch on your innards as if it were nothing special, the grizzly bear is a beautiful animal, tranquil and contemplative. You should watch them on Planet Earth, a great, exciting show!

I've the tendency to be overwhelmed by many mediums, including not just music but also books and general knowledge. Then I realize how long of a life I really lead, how much time we all have to attain so much information. As a result I've lost the desire to learn about novelty things (like Kanye West) and search for truly satisfying things. Currently that means reading books on Caravaggio, essays from the NYRB and social psychology studies by Philip Zimbardo, listening to Mozart (now there's overwhelming!) and writing, writing, writing. BASICALLY, I regret having so much music on my iPod and need to simplify my tastes.

With 20 songs in your library, arguably still more than any one person requires, you'll have lots of time to re-familiarize with what you desire most. I think I might do the same - that is, I'll delete the entirety of my 40gbs of music, and I'll start fresh. I'm on a classical kick right now, Brahms and (sometimes) Mozart at home, Stan Getz, bossa nova jazz, in the car.

It was one of my favorite times I've ever seen Brand New. I got to sit down, which was awesome, but at the same time with so many jams the energy of a full crowd against a barrier would've been amazing. Still, it was an incredible set. What'd you think?

Yeah! Got there early, and the people right behind me got me in. I ended up front row center, it was a prime situation! Did you get in? I heard they turned away hundreds.

The set list on that tour was a little too short for me, but it was still amazing. I'm really excited for this tour. I've traveled way further for Brand New before, this is nothing. Normally, however, I go with a ticket in hand, so that's why I'm slightly skeptical. Thanks for looking out for me though, and hopefully we'll have an awesome show to talk about in a few weeks!

Thanks for replying so quick! Yeah, I'm coming from Virginia, but I'm hoping to get to the venue at a decent time. I'm sure I'll be able to get in, but if you could keep an eye out, that'd be awesome. Oh, and let me know how City and Colour is, I'm seeing it a few days after you.

Hey, since you started the last.fm event for Brand New, I'd figured I'd ask if you could possibly get me a ticket, or know of somebody that could. I can easily Paypal the money and then some. Let me know!
