All my weekends are family free, except when I'm co-opted into things. I see my mother very infrequently. I don't have contact with anyone else. No, I don't teach theatre. Just Fine Art. I did study Drama at school up to 16 tho. Visiting Germany? No, we were in Berlin about three years ago. No plans to visit for a while. Maybe Austria in a few years? I have only been to Salzberg, but didn't love it.

I'm downloading the Schiller now, so I will be able to listen in the next few days. I do know and like Goldfrapp already. I like a lot of different genres of music, not just electronic, honestly! For electronic music, I can recommend to you [artist]Röyksopp[/artist] and [artist]Fischerspooner[/artist] if you don't know them already, both being more dance-oriented bands. For something more ambient/downtempo, look for [artist]Air[/artist].

I like his accent, actually, both singing and speaking. I did get to meet him after a show in 2004, and he was charming, a very nice guy. I have only heard a little bit of Schiller (the two tracks you mentioned, plus their track with Veljanov, "Desire"). Can you recommend anything?

I've always had a weakness for synthpop, regardless of the country of origin... Wolfsheim was a favorite for many years, and I did actually follow them on tour when they made their only visit to the US in 2004. His accent? I'm not sure what you mean; his German accent when he sings in English?

I teach art full-time in a secondary school with a sixth form, students aged between 11-18. I never wanted to teach, I imagined something else for myself, I don't know what. I like art, so at least it's connected to my BA/MA. I don't find it as rewarding as everyone always coos about teaching. I'm not a very childcentric person. I suppose the job has it moments... Another family? I don't want the one I have! ha! I used to hope I was adopted as a kid, but sadly, I'm not. Goals? I don't have any. There isn't a 'point' to life. You are supposed to make one. I'm not sure I want one... All hail depression!

I have a brother. I have nothing to do with him. He's like a filtered version of all the worst bits of my father; stupid, bully, racist, picks fights with weaker people, a real nasty piece of work. I don't have time for him. He's my mother's favourite and it breaks her heart that he doesn't care for her. He is the Navy and she writes to him, sends him care parcels and he never thanks her. He got married, to great fanfare from my mother, a few years ago. It lasted six weeks. His last g/f cloned his credit card and left with everything. I think he's very young and quite naive.

Ah, the olds were okay. It was an fairly going 'do'. They were just pleasant and old really, thanks for asking. Why *do* people have children? I don't really know. I work with someone who never wanted them and has two adult children. She has a really lovely relationship with both her children, they get on and have a close relationship. I think some people have things they never really wanted in the first place because 'it's what one does.' Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I don't think it's right to take out my petty grievances on children. And besides, I have cats!

I don't think being a parent or a child necessarily guarantees you will like, love or respect each other. My parents are disappointed with me and I with them. Neither of us got what we wanted, tough luck. I feared my father, I didn't/don't like or love him. Certainly don't/didn't respect him. We aren't in contact. If he died, I wouldn't attend his funeral. My mother and I tolerate each other. I'm surprised we get on this well. Anything more than this is the icing on the cake to me. Half the time, I feel like my efforts to be nice to her are wasted. I feel sort of responsible, like it's my duty to make an effort, take her out, be nice. The other half I just feel exasperated with her. And she with me, I would imagine. My partner says I shouldn't feel like I should expend such efforts on her. 'Take her, or leave her.' He's probably right. My parents said we were an inconvenience to their lives, most of time it felt like it too. And then I can see her sometimes and she's pleasant.

My secret private reasons? hahah! Cheap psychoanalysis, indeed. No, they aren't secret. I was told I was shit when I was a kid and after a while, I believed it. Which is why I loathe families and family get togethers. People pretending they like each other and being faux pleasant means nothing to me at all. I don't really see why I should work at being nice if people perceive me otherwise. Oh, sometimes I'm far too nice with people I should expend absolutely no energy on at all. Aren't the internets a wonderful place? ha!

I think you are possibly confusing how I look with who you possibly imagine me to be. I don't really do crying or screaming, either internally, or externally. I am angry and depressive. But not one of those weeping, wailing rag things. No, I don't like me much, you're right. And not very likeable. And best avoided, yes. ha! I just work with people all day and so does my partner. I get tired of being around them and drink to switch their incessant neediness off for a while. And my problems too. I gave drugs up, but still drink too much. I would avoid me at parties, I'm not pleasant. You know those people who are gently simmering? You look at them and know they aren't good news? Some woman, last weekend, tried to drunkenly look up my skirt and I almost ended up having a fight in the street. I look like someone people think is going to take shit, because of the way I dress, but she and her friends were about 30 seconds from being punched/Maced in the face.

No, parties are AWful. I am always offensive, drink just makes me better/worse. No, I am not calm. Never. Tense and angry, like a coiled spring. What would I do if I didn't have to party with old people I never met before? Go to a Western Swing club, drink mild and wear a big shiny outfit. Go running today and hiking tomorrow. Bands and clubs are fine, socialising politely is not. I have to do it a lot and I'm terrible at it. I am one of those people who is best avoided when drunk, I have a foul temper.

No, I don't work weekends. I'm going to a hideous family party tomorrow, my partner's family, I avoid mine like the plague. It means I can't get drunk and offensive like I usually do. I hate parties. And even worse, it involves a sit down meal. Oh, hell's teeth!

Yeah, those 'read along with' things are often pretty self indulgent. And it's not like a crappy gig when you can just sneak out when no-one is looking.

I have been asked about the Nina Hagen thing before. It's a bit of a running joke at home. 'Oh, look! It's Nina Hagen...oh, no it's you in a silly wig!' I suppose it could be worse being mistaken for her. I think she's rather stunning looking ha! I love the stuff she did as Bettie Page with 'Pierre et Gilles'. Girls in eyeliner, eh? We all look the same... I bet her biography is interesting. Yes, climbing cats terrify me. There used to be a visiting cat at home, who would climb to the top of a hawthorn tree and then wail for me to rescue him when he got all stuck and prickled.

Pelican? Zebra? Gnu facepaint? ha! My older of the two cats likes to bury himself in piles of costumes if he's allowed in the bedroom, or he waits until you are asleep and prods you loving with his hairy foot. The other night, I thought he had got into the wardrobe somehow, but without my glasses or contacts, I can't see a thing, so I couldn't find him. Until we looked out of the window, where he was sitting on the narrow window ledge 2 stories up, looking a bit scared and squeaking, but refusing to come in. Silly bugger! He also does a free fall act, involving the plastic carport roof, where he squeezes his fat body between two sections of the roof to get into the locked garage where it's nice and dry and he can sit on clothes airing in there/a motorbike. If you time it right, you can see him looking bewildered, crashing by the kitchen window, fat legs wiggling.

Yeah, ours do as they are told. They know that when it's time for bed for them, we clap our hands and they have to return to the kitchen and their box to be locked up for the night. All these people who are bullied by their pets! My colleague's cat bites her husband if he feels like it. And I agree, without the cats and my job, sometimes it would be easy not to get up in the morning.

Scary new pic. Yep, the cat is well and good, thanks for asking. And annoying as kittens all over the world are. Only 3-4 years til she'll get good and calm like I like 'em.

We have two, the displaced Sid (Vicious) and the new gal, Edna. Our cat of 20 years had to be put to sleep on Monday, I feel like a real friend died. My partner was inconsolable, the other cat was miserable... so we had to get another. We went kitten hunting yesterday and found ourselves in receipt of a new one pretty much in 20 minutes. Catspeak... we had an old cat, William, who once intoned, 'Ah haaaaaaaaaa ahhhhhhh!' at us. He never did it again, but that is my theory on the operacats. they can all do it, if they like.

Yeah, my partner had a dream that our old cat could sing like Harry Secombe. I got a new cat today and I am going to teach her how to do close harmony singing and play the zither. These days the world is so competative, that I think this, backgammon and the expressive dance Isadora Duncan style, will really give her the edge over the common cats.

I don't know the best way for anything. Why do you necessarily have to be lonely? Or unhappy? Or happy? Doesn't everyone feel these things at some point whether they are attached or unattached anyway? I seem to be having this conversation a lot this week... must be something in the water.

I worked for a short while for a company called 'Steilmann' in Bochum as a pattern cutter. Everyone in England at the age of 15 does work experience to show them what jobs are 'really like'. Except it doesn't. You just do dog's body jobs for free and realise that you have to get a better job than 'gofer' to earn a living. I suppose it teaches you that. It is a shame that languages aren't more valued in Britain.

Oh, it's just to give me a sense of perspective, is all. I like John Waters and I can imagine he and his pencil moustache laughing maniacally whilst considering water-induced morbidly obese gentlemen. His writing make me laugh hysterically in general. Exotic German lessons? My teacher was a dotty little Austrian woman who dressed like a doll-person and made bizarre observations on life. Lots of fun. I did enjoy learning a language and worked in Germany as part of my education. My partner's dad is German and he always tries to encourage me to speak German to him, but it's all long gone.

I'm not, it's a quote from John Water's piece on '100 Things I Love' about a man who put on 600 pounds in weight from drinking too much tapwater and how Waters is happy it hasn't happened to him. It sums up my feelings on the year so far. Who knows it might even get worse? *squee* 129 plays of Kim Wilde? That's either 129 plays of deeply ironic right there, or there is a death metal Kim Wilde I'm unaware of. I'm imagining her, in her new role as 'sleb gardener, hair whipping whilst double digging.
