One more thing: remember when I recommended Undead Corporation? Well I listened to more of their stuff and I think they're really awesome, you should do the same 'cause there's no way you won't like them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DskVK26wmDY

mmm, let's see... it's not easy since I have no clue what you look like... there's a dude on the frontline that makes some deep ass headbanging when the breakdown kicks in, is that you?

As for breakdowns, interestingly enough I love them pretty much for the same exact reasons why you hate them: 'cause they're dumb and pointless. They are heavy for the mere sake of being heavy, that's all they bring to the table. Also, the fact that they tend to interrupt the atmospheric flow isn't a turn off for me, I think it creates a sense of tension and urgency. My favorite of all time is indeed the one in Boneyards, it makes me want to smash everything around me.

Well, even if it appearently won't exactly fit my taste I'll be more than glad to hear something from this new project of yours whenever it's ready!

As for the last Soilwork album, let's put it this way: in my opinion (but believe me, it's far from an uncommon one) the main problem this band has always had is consistency in the tracklists, they have always alternated great songs to pointless fillers and from that perspective releasing a twenty tracks record is a suicidal move; and maaaaaaan it definetly shows. Moreover the guitar tune is too high and that makes the album sound way too soft. The general vibe is also too "happy" and there is a chronic catchiness deficit in the clean vocal department. Overall, an abject failure imo.

My favorite is probably "Bright Enough", the chorus is amazing. Definetly gonna get the album when it comes out.

To be honest I probably like that song more than anything from the last Soilwork album which was a pretty huge disappointment for me.

Well it's definetly nothing new nor original, you have your Gotheborg-esque riffs, breakdowns, clean/harsh vocals dynamic and so on but I think they do what they do pretty well.

Hey Falk; I don't know if you're familiar with the band I Killed The Prom Queen but in any case I think you should check out their new album 'cause it's pretty awesome and I think it might fit your taste. This song features guest vocals by Bjorn Strid from Soilwork, it's really amazing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVsRXfeEubE

Hey! Sorry for the super late response, I had totally forgot about your post. What you linked sounds definetly interesting, never heard of it before! The abundance of different vocalists tenda to confuse me though, it doesn't sound very organic but more like a compilation.

Hey I saw your comment in City in the sea. I've been a fan of metalcore for about 6 years now, but I have to agree with you that it's getting better for the most part. Though, a lot of good bands have been changing their style or been breaking up recently. I'm glad to see a lot of good new ones are starting to get more popular.

Actually, I wish this track had a better production: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugB6BLU_9zs It's a remake of Hyper Sonic, the Idolator opener with additional vocals by Sophia. It's featured in one of the Fruity Beats Eps they released before Epsilon. But I guess it was supposed to just show how the old tracks would have sound like on stage with Sophia performing the vocals...

Oh, don't worry, I never judge anyone because of torrenting. Me personally I always buy the originals but it doesn't make me anyway special, I was just lucky enough to be born in a wealthy family. But I will say that the fact that it sounds muddy is definetly due to the poor quality of the files, there's no other explaination.

To me Epsilon sounds perfect, nothing I can complain about. I'm not saying this just because I'm a fanboy: I will gladly admit that all of their previous albums had their flaws in terms of sound but I can hardly imagine a better mixing quality for Epsilon, you can hear everything perfectly and still it sounds pretty thick and heavy. What is it that makes you dislike that production? Does it sound too artificial to you?

Do you know what really drives me insane? When I see underground unknown bands having perfect, flawless productions while many more famous and experienced ones fuck everything up despite having the possibility to work with well respected producers and having access to the best recording studios. It makes no sense at all.

You're very welcome! It was kind of due since you already suggested me two awesome bands. When it comes to productions, I'm always on the fence between heaviness and clarity. The UC track I linked definetly doesn't sound very powerful but you can hear everything perfectly, expecially the cleans. Many albums out there sound super heavy but they tend to get al little messy at times and sometimes you can barely hear the clean vocals (for example "Soundtrack To Your Escape" by In Flames or "Fragments Of D-Generation" by Disarmonia Mundi). I guess a compromise between the two is the best solution.

Hoooooooly shit, Unearth The Unknow is just gorgeous!!! What a chorus, an instant classic.... I'll try my best to get some of their stuff. Do you know the band Undead Corporation? Japanese Melodeath with female cleans, pretty good in my opinion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5s0i5UCgwA

Oh dude, you're too kind. Actually I've never heard them before but this song sounds great, although I wish there were some more harsh vocals; I'll keep checking them out, many thanks for the advice!
