Logged in for first time in 2.5 years just to see if the reason I stopped using Last.fm had been improved. It hasn't - the listening reports are still mediocre, and even worse, only last week and last year are available. Also the site has gotten worse overall with 3 times the ad-space, most of it taking the place of the cool 3rd party profile customizations I used to use. I'm disappearing again, probably for good. This site is completely worthless to me - worse than useless, it's now an irritant. Namaste all my friends! You're losers, Last.fm!

Sorry, but since they destroyed this site with their redesign IMO, I quit using it. I don't refer to my own profile or listening history or scrobble to it since the dreadful redesign. It's not because I don't like change like a lot of people who complain about a change to anything they get familiar with. I love change -- if it's an improvement or a refreshing "change of scenery". This site redesign removed most of the functions I used the site for so it became worthless to me. I only use it anonymously as a music database like AllMusic and Discogs to look up music info like bios, discography, songs, ... -- anonymous only because there's no reason to log in if I'm just looking up info, just an extra unnecessary step.

Hi Arian, sorry I missed seeing your message until you posted on my page. I also have some other songs on my personal website (www.CatherineDuc.com) which aren't on MySpace. 12 hours a day of music is great - that's much more than me! You should get a job as a musicologist :) Thanks so much for your kind comment on my music - much appreciated as you sound like you really know your music.

Hi Catherine - Great meeting you here! I was interested in checking out your music, but when I went to leave you a shout, I notice you beat me to it. :))) Thanks for the link to your music. Is that the best place to sample your past work as well as your new releases? As you probably noticed from my profile, music is my #1 personal interest. I listen to it about 12 hrs/day. The more variety the better for me, so I'm perfectly happy listening to, for example, ambient electronic, gothic darkwave, Black gospel, Brazilian lounge, opera, new age acoustic, singer songwriter, trance, Indian sitar, ... tracks back-to-back. :D But only what I consider to be the best within each genre unless I'm "treasure hunting" for new music. So I look more for quality across all genres, not for quantity within a few genres. I'm delighted to see that your music crosses genres, a trend I would like to see more and more of. Thx & Blessings, Falcon

Now I've switched my music library management to Foobar too. It's easier to manage my music in the same place as I play it + I'm biting the bullet and taking the long learning and adaptation curve to getting fb2k to work for me with its staggering number of customization options. Still learning and customizing, but so far it's working best for me out of all available managers and players.

Hold the presses - an update to my quick update 2 days ago: I hate to admit it because I love AIMP2 so much. But for me audio quality takes precedence over anything else. I thought AIMP2 had equal quality to Foobar 2000 but I just proved myself wrong. I have some albums that were recorded at too high a level so the amplitude is way over the max and as a result, the tracks are distorted. You can hear the distortion clearly on my high quality 5:1 home theater/surround system but on my smaller, decent but not great 4:1 computer speaker system, it rattles the speakers on AIMP2. But the same tracks played on fb2k were clearly distorted but not rattling the speakers. Definitely a sign of higher quality playback! So now I'm back to fb2k as my preferred player again. Main reason I switched because it takes so much time to customize to get it even close to the great AIMP UI, including having to download a ton of add-ons to do it. A big pain and time waster for me, but sound quality is worth it

Quick update on current audio tools used: Preferred player: AIMP2 (free) altho doesn't work with ReplayGain. I love AIMP2 so much (exc for the RG problem), I've resisted upgrading to AIMP3 even tho it's also free & is supposed to fix RG. ...... 2nd preference in a player + my preferred tool for applying mass replay gain: : Foobar 2000 (free) -- very fast- speeds above 350X, have applied it to 9000 tracks at a time in about 40 min; most choices I've encountered in RG settings .... Music library manager: MediaMonkey -- I don't use it for anything else so I keep declining the offer to upgrade to a newer version. The only media player I paid for-not worth the $ with so many good free players available. I should clarify that there is a free version but it lacks several important features. Most important paid feature for me - auto finding tracks that have been moved.. Music converter, ripper, burner & other audio tools - dbPoweramp - best I've found - worth the price for the paid version.
