haha zu are awesome, carboniferus is one of the best album i've ever heard. too bad they're gonna break up. the drummer will go with the bloody beetroots. i was so mad! if you have the chance to see them live, go for it. i've seen them live three times and it was always incredible ;)

for me almost everyone falls in the very low to medium range with a few highs and maybe one or two very high

Yeah, right after the self-titled was released, I read about Alexis' opinion about the whole thing. It really is a shame that he thinks that was the band's "sell-out" album. And I don't think he understands that even a lot of devoted Daughters fans really loved the hell out of it. You know I loved Canada Songs as much as the next guy, but I was hoping for their next release to just be a next step in their ever-growing evolution, you know? That's what made them so great. So yeah, if they did return to that type of sound, I think I would be a little disappointed, but I would still probably end up loving it anyways, lol.

Same here. Nick is always pulling off something new whether it be sound or technique. He's one of my favorite guitarists and I think I'd be really difficult for Lex and Jon to find a replacement who can play like Nick did. Haha word. Yeah, that was definitely my favorite of 2010. I still listen to it on a regular basis and it feels fresh every time.

Zappa and Beefheart are totally different. I cannot for the life of me get into Trout Mask Replica, which is unfortunate because I quite like his other albums. I can however, just about stand his voice, it suits his fucked up blues style, shame he died :/

Thank you so much for those recs! I think I'll gonna start with A Place To Bury Strangers. Shoegaze influence is definitely a plus for me. haha. And I actually have Swans' discography on my long queue of downloads to listen to but I always thought that their earlier stuffs are more of industrial than noise rock. Oh well. I might check Filth one of these days.
