Yeah..there are a lot of metal bands here recording music and playing gigs. There is nothing wrong with wearing Metal shirts and gear related to metal in public, I don't know who told you that and why. I even go to mosque wearing my morbid angel tee and no one stops me. Its all cool. xD

Hell yeah, man. I've seen Ihsahn live past weekend. He played two Emperor songs ("Thus Spake the Nightspirit" and "The Tongue of Fire"). It was just amazing. Sort of resurrected that old black metal side on me. ;)

I'm not even a big fan of Eclipse… I guess they're forcing that whole "melodic rock" thing a bit too much.

They played both Into Hiding and Black Winter Day (plus The Castaway). Into Hiding was pure awesomeness live. I don't remember which Karelian Isthmus's song they played, though. The new vocalist was awesome singing the old tracks. He fits really well. It's a shame that they don't compose such music anymore…

3/4 from "Tales From the Thousand Lakes", one from "The Karelian Isthmus" and 2/3 from "Elegy". It was quite nice.

Exactly my favourite albums by them ;). Saw them live ten days ago, along with Ensiferum, My Dying Bride, Amorphis and a few other bands. Man, it was pure awesomeness… http://www.youtube.com/user/amgcg -> I've recorded a few tracks by Ensiferum.

Yep', a tour with Dev, Between the buried and me, Cynic, and Scale the Summit is beyond the dream. Really hope at least one of this bands could come on tour with Dev in Europe ! I saw Cynic opening for Opeth last year and it was a really great night !

So, what are your thoughts about "From Afar"? Still doesn't match "Ensiferum" and "Iron", but I think it's way better than "Victory Songs". At least I can sense a lot more of those old guitar melodies they used to play, even though it's more symphonic overall. The thing I really miss is Jari's clean vocals. They made Ensiferum.

It's not the same old Ensiferum anymore, but it's also good. The "orchestral" work is pretty flawless and there are lots of guitar melodies, much more than on Victory Songs. I guess you'll like it. ;)
