Hi! Just logged in after several days and saw your message. I listened to the first two Matchbox Twenty albums a lot when I lived in Thailand, but haven't really listen to their later stuff. Was feeling a bit nostalgic, I guess, and spent some time listening to them again. Hope things are going well with you!

Hi there! I just spent 3 months working in Kuwait and, while there, Florence + the Machine were in heavy rotation on my iPod, especially the album "Ceremonials". Would be awesome to see her live! Have a wonderful Christmas and New Years!

I quite like Hooverphonic! I have "Blue Wonder Power Milk" (1998) and "The Magnificent Tree" (2000). "The Magnificent Tree" has the majority of my plays (was addicted to "Mad About You" for awhile), but "Blue Wonder Power Milk" has plenty of good songs. Hope your summer is a good one!

Hiya! I'd had that Doves album for quite some time but never taken the time to listen properly to all the songs. It has become one of my recent faves. You have a Doves song in your short list of loved tracks, so I figure you must really like them :)

hello, i indeed like nanci griffith. i worship her album of covers from 1993, 'other voices, other rooms', but i must confess i don't enjoy nearly as much her original stuff... thanks for the other two recommendations, they're familiar names but i never really checked 'em out. greetings!

I hear what you're saying. I'll try to listen to more artists on lastfm from now on. Unfortunately, it's a little hard to find extra time these days. I'm just one person (with no marketing team or record label), so I have to ration my time between practicing, writing songs, recording, and marketing myself. But you definitely have a good point :)

Long ago, my boss put a couple of Imogen Heap songs on the "community computer" at the lab. I liked them enough to check out a couple of her albums. I hadn't listened to them in awhile, but, yeah, she's caught my ear again recently. I think I have some Frou Frou around here somewhere, too. In BKK, it's back to normal hot weather...a lot of rain this year!

Believe it or not, Bangkok is having "winter-like" weather right now. The high tomorrow will be 68 F. Unheard of for Bangkok in March. It should be in the high 90s...not that I'm complaining. You're a stronger person than I for kicking the eMu habit. I really thought about it (especially since some of my fave labels are gone), but the yearly subscription came up and I just never said "no". Have fun listening to all the good music!

Hey EB, I found Dispatch ass-backwards; after Dispatch split, Chad started State Radio who I found through eMusic (very Clash-like and one of the best live bands I've seen in years). Only later did I go back and discover Dispatch (more Jammy) and I just got a ticket to catch their reunion tour in June. "The General" is a must-hear track. Colin

Hi EB, thanks for the nice note. I'm still in touch with a few emusikers via musicgourmets.com. Did you ever give that community a spin? It's actually settled down quite a bit from a few years back - there used to be a few troll-like characters but now its a very nice place to talk about music and life and stuff.

I know what you mean about the credits vs $$. This morning I was looking through all the artists that will be leaving and it's just so incredibly bad. I bought 2 booster packs...there's just a few dls left now. I guess I better hurry (if those guys aren't already gone!). The more I think about it, the more upset I get. I'll see what new stuff shows up, but I'm really thinking that I won't renew...unless they can work out something with the labels that left.

Hi - it has been awhile. I think the loss of Merge, Domino and Beggars Group is really bad! I love so many artists from those labels and there are still albums that I want to get. I may buy a booster pack and get a few of the ones that I've got in my "save for later" before they're off. The new labels? I'm kinda "meh" about them. It's mostly mainstream stuff (which if fine), but not really why I loved eMu at first. I'll keep my subscription until it runs out, but not sure if I'll renew. We'll have to see how the new format works out.

I can't remember exactly where I heard about The Ettes - maybe as a similar artist to The Detroit Cobras, The Love Me Nots or Thee Headcoatees. Last month I downloaded "Do You Want Power" and "Shake the Dust" and have really liked both of them. I'll be sure to check out the Gore Gore Girls. My eMu renews on the 28th!

One of my last.fm friends recently loved a track from "She's Spanish, I'm American". I checked to see if they were on eMu (decided to renew, btw) and I saw your review. I think I'll give them a try.

Happy New Year! Hope 2010 is all you hope it to be. I've been taking advantage of the eMu booster pack sale and stocking up on music for the New Year's holiday. Amazon's $5 albums have also added to my Year End music acquisitions. There's already enough new music for a couple of months of listening, but I'm still finding albums that I'd like to download.

Hi! It's Sunday morning over here and I'm slaving away, as well...but I don't mind at all! I am still with eMusic and think I will stick with it. I finally paid for a personal VPN, so the whole downloading thing isn't a problem now. Just downloaded 4 albums this week and wished I had a few more credits! I should probably listen to these new ones a bit before getting more. It takes awhile for some new songs to make an impression...sometimes 6 to 8 listens. I definitely went through a hard rock phase in high school. I thought Aerosmith and Rush were the bee's knees. My husband is still a bit of a head banger, but listens to jazz and a lot of other stuff. You have a good weekend, too!

So here I am! Finally started listening to the 10+ gigs of music on my hard drive. Of course, not all of it is from eMu. Part of my problem is that I can't resist the blogs, Amie Street, Jamendo, etc. I'm also a bit OCD and I listen song by song, then decide which of my various playlists it belongs in. I've got em all set to pre-populate with the least-listened tunes, on shuffle, each time I synch. Makes for great listening - somewhat random, but without those jarring mood shifts you get when the iPod goes from, say, disco, to blues, and then into synthpop. Some people love that but not me. I see you are friends with Silverchimes. She's good people!

I'm keeping eMu, although supplementing it more with AmieStreet (alot of music for very little coin.) I joined Limewire, but will quite soon since it is just about as retarded as the new eMu. I have used by last two BestBuy cards for alot of stuff I would not have bought, 25 song comps from Sister Rosetta Tharp for example, since they are capped at 12. The Sony add was alot of meh for me, although I keep running across things that I like and am surprised it is on Sony. Can't win, I guess. Last.FM remains the best place for me to find new stuff. Asobi Seksu? Ok, I'll try it....!

Heh! I'd listen 24/7, too, if possible. I'm still getting 50 songs/month and my eMusic account doesn't come up for renewal until March, so I have awhile to think about it. I've only been a subscriber since December 2007, so the change won't be as drastic as the long time members...still, the price/song almost doubles! I used to get 75 song/month, but cut it 50/month this year because I felt didn't have the time to really listen to that many new songs. I'll have to seriously think about the renewal. It's already a bit of pain since I live in Thailand. I have to go through a VPN in order to login/download. The music industry is so weird. I want to give them my money, but they won't take it since I don't live in the right place.
