The old 2 songs sound better. The production is better and good by metal' standards but compared to other genres, it's not top notch. Sounds like they re-recorded the old 3 songs and added slight tweaks instead of just remixing and mastering. I will not say anything about the other songs yet

I think its very subtle and chillax. Has a very "silent-and-still-winter-night" feel to it. I don't see the Scott Walker influence though :( and it isn't music totally unheard of - its like all the mellow music SW and Opeth ever made put together.

How did your presentation go anyway? Junwei hasn't replied me yet so I'm not sure what time to meet him for the Opeth gig. I gotta get him by tomorrow or else the next time I can contact him would be on the day of the gig itself since I'm away from Saturday to Wednesday.

Nice. At least they're paying attention to Asian countries now (or maybe they just see a potential place to cash in?) SW's second leg of Grace For Drowning will be in 2012 and he said he will be playing newer places he's ignored/not been to. Seeing the tour history, its largely in Northern America and Western/Central Europe. Looks like he's left out South America, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australia and Asia. South America is a surefire of them all. Asia seems likely but not Singapore (probably Japan etc). But if they play in SEA, would you go?

Looks like the years of mehutal has coated your balls with steel. Oh ok actually jazz seems more suited for your assignment based on that criteria. You can base it to some degree on the Civil Rights Movements.

LOL how are will those up your hipster cred? They both have hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of listeners! To up your hipster cred, you should analyse bands like Updownleftrightabstartselect, All Bands in New York Suck, and The Plastic Keys with the Yellow Notepad Quartet.

This is might actually be homework I like doing. Can we like do it together or something? Yeah those two artists have lots of stuff to analyse musically.

LOL aiyah another year will fly by very fast one lah and the next thing you know, you'll be in my situation. Now I'm actually scared to get back my results because I'm not too sure if they'll turn out good. Ah well. I'll just live in blissful ignorance for the next few months and make the most out of it. When does your holiday start?

22nd of November. Starts at 8am and ends at 11am. Literature (Women in Literature). I don't think I'll be free on that day though because I'm going out with my class to cycle at ECP after that. Probably won't be free the next day as well. Fuck it seems that I have more stuff to do post-As than pre-As lol. I'm going to order the Insurgentes DVD and Ulver's Live at the Norwegian Opera House I think so we can watch. Shit thing is that I still don't have a blu-ray player.

Are these fine deals? http://www.togoparts.com/marketplace/ad_details.php?cid=10&aid=308979&page_id=51&done=list_ads.php%3Fcid%3D10%26page_id%3D51 and http://www.togoparts.com/marketplace/ad_details.php?cid=10&aid=307020&page_id=52&done=list_ads.php%3Fcid%3D10%26page_id%3D52. The white one is small size so I don't think it might fit my height and leg room. Is the black one an example of a single-speed that is not a fixie?

I haven't listen to In Absentia yet but I'll listen to it sometime next week. I think Deadwing is a very solid release if it was less heavy in the earlier part - kinda contrasts greatly with the more mellow second half. The Sky Moves Sideways is one fucking big mindtrip lol its like floating in endless space for 1 hour and 10 minutes. I fucking love the album but I think newer PT (Deadwing onwards) is still interesting as well even though its not too varied.

Fuck songwriting on Deadwing is beautiful, especially on the second half. First half is surprisingly heavy - too heavy for my liking.

Should go listen to OK Computer as well. It's not too bad, and quite enjoyable at times, hipster or not, though the vocals would need some time to get into. Somehow reminds me of the movie 28 Days Later http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEkJAaGhJhQ Also, Godspeed and Brian Eno music is in the film.

And also considering their muzik, which I felt had nice "nature" elements in it, but done in a non-folkish and more subtle manner. A vast, misty forest would be nice even though it's done to death but I love that shit. Album title is unexpected as well - I thought it might be some Latin phrase that nobody understands or some mysterious title nobody can figure out (even the band members themselves).

Lol I take that to be bad? Honestly, I think it sucks. It's like those generic "abstract" photomanipualtion. Album title is pretty lame as well. But let's hope the tracks will fucking blow us away :) Also, do you know about Lunatic Soul's new release recently called Impressions?
