I have heard the Philip Selway album and it's a very mellow affair, very beautiful. Well... I haven't, have only heard the soundtrack :D I probably should have watched it, though, because the music would sound ever better. I have gone on to YouTube to see if it's been posted but cannot find it so will have to buy it and get back to you. Have you watched it yourself and what did you think?

It sounds like a beautiful place. Yep the last tour they played here was November and some shows in their home town last year which apparently was pretty big. Have you heard the EP/soundtrack Submarine by Alex Turner?

What happened? I did leave a shout but it didn't appear :D Really, you travelled to San Diego - that seems like a long trip! I listen to the Arctic Monkeys on and off but hadn't listened to them in ages but put them on again recently. They were on the TV here a few nights ago actually! I have heard they are pretty good live!

Aw blimey that's a tough one! Seriously the Kinks have done over 20 albums and each one is unique in my opinion. My favourites are the '69 concept album Arthur and Muswell Hillbilles which is more sort of country-rock. I'd probably avoid the 70s Preservation albums at first. Maybe start with a 60s album like VGPS which is considered their greatest LP to many people or Something Else, I started with a Greatest Hits album as well and then downloaded one of their 60s albums and that was it, I was hooked on them. Mid-70s stuff I would describe as their concept / stage era, late 70s/early 80s was more out-and-out rock. Schoolboys in Disgrace actually is a pretty cool album. Ray has done a couple of solo albums and I'd reccommend either of them. Plus he done a Choral album where re-worked classic Kinks songs with a choir on. I'm supporting any of the South American teams now, we didn't get that decision off of the linesman but we were not that great at the tournament anyway!
