I was wondering what you would think of Marty leaving the Church. Steve's side of the story is that he tried to contact Marty but never heard back. Who knows. Ian Haug has done a nice job filling in.

Former members of the Chameleons, John Lever and Dave Fielding, are putting out a new album under the band name The Red Sided Garter Snakes. The snippets I've heard sound great. You can hear them too at http://trsgs.tmstor.es/cart/product.php?id=25566. Have you heard the latest album by the Church? I really like it. I got to see them this spring and am going to try to catch them again next month with the Psychedelic Furs.

Thanks for the (funny) shout and the friend request. There are some great artists on your charts. I'll have to have a nosey about and see if I can find someone new to me :¬)

Did you know that the Chameleons Vox is putting out new music? Here is a link to a video of a new song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZW15zEG9M9k

Fuck yeah, Plexi will never die. I'm surprised they're only my 15th most-listened-to artist on here... I'll think of some Plexi-ish bands to recommend to you

Unfortunately, I never got to see the original lineup of the Chameleons. I missed my chance to see the Chameleons Vox a few years ago when they came to Boston. I'm hoping they will come back to the states. My former co-worker became friends with Mark Burgess and even played a few shows with him. I'm guessing the original line-up will never get back together again. What a shame. Just like I keep hoping the Smiths will get back together...

In answer to your question about when I discovered the Chameleons, I am sad to say I was late to the party. Back in the early 90's, I would hear Swamp Thing on my alternative radio station. I absolutely loved the song but knew nothing else about the band. I even worked with somebody who was a huge fan. When I got on Last.fm several years ago is when I finally discovered this amazing group. Now, I am making up for lost time.
