i wouldn't say edgier as much as...more open. black sheep boy sounded like the band holed themselves up in some rotting castle to record, and the stage names sounds like they travelled crosscountry in a van and saw a lot of motels and a lot of big open fields. i don't know if that explains it very well, haha.
