Back to Cut Copy, the "Meet Me In The House Of Love" single may bear a crazy resemblance to New Order, Electronic & PSB -- but the chorus is absolutely stellar, one of the most infectious melodies/chord progressions I've heard in a while... at least since 1989! :)

Style-wise, I've always read more literally into the "Caustic" part of the name that this work was more sonically brash, where his more whimsical and playful stuff ended up coming out under the Aphex name. Stuff he did as AFX I assumed to be closest to straightforward hard techno... So given the diversity of this collection, it really feels like a cluster of personal mixes he wanted to share with a few interested friends, except with a catalogue number on the Rephlex Label...

You probably read his comment about never putting his best material out there, as though paranoid about sonic thievery, although, "is this just the behavior of a guy who's a little insecure about the level of reception he'd get if he came out of "retirement""? I believe he may have chosen the word retirement because he was bored back in 01, and needed a change and didn't want to grow stale in front of people. But having spent so many years now out of the underground lime-colored black-lights, he may not feel the same anymore. Let's don't forget, he's a 42 year old who last had visible fame in '01 aged 30 doing Drukqs and then an album of 26 mixes for $$... I too, wonder how much RDJ's attitudes have changed in that time...

Curious to know if this is considered an Aphex Twin record or a Caustic Window one. Certainly just a curiosity as it's still the work of RDJ, I notice LastFM places unique art for Aphex whereas it uses default pic for Caustic. Really happy hearing this, hopeful it prompts him to come out of hiding (release-wise anyway). As for Cut Copy tracks, wow, it's a time machine.
