Funny that you ask because yes I do. I think it's my favourite LP album, and that is saying a lot.

Used to be, back in high school.

Haven't listened to them yet, will do so at some point. All three of them are stellar musicians I think.

Yeah, well I have a grudge against the mainstream music industry, so I can't bring myself to appreciate most of what is on the radio or tv. I do however like 30stm a lot. I was listening to Hurricane of the new album, great track. They just keep growing on me even though I listen to them occasionaly.

I have respect for placebo, Depeche Mode, and Timbaland. And that is saying a lot because I am a music snob, very harsh and critical on most artists. Did 30STM have a touring bassist when you saw them live, or did they perform without a bassist on stage? Green Day is good too. Although with them it's not a surprise that they are a three piece, atleast it wasn't for the earlier part of their career when their sound was more raw. Nowadays their sound is bigger and more suited to an arena then ever before.

Sorry for the late reply, trying to keep busy and stay out of my apartment these days. Yes I have heard some of their music, liked most of it from what I remember. Surprising and wierd how I know of so many three piece bands that are really good and have a big sound. e.g The Tea Party, Muse, Falling Up, Placebo, Future of Forestry.

I think it's because the track has a very RnB-ish feel to it. That is the feel the band was going for, wierd but true.

This was definitely my worst semester, had some personal stuff to deal with. But I am looking forward to starting over next semester and new year :). I like Capricon off the first one, kinda simplistic but still catchy.

Well I am done with my semester so will have time to give 30stm a try, althought I have been on too much of a TTP kick to give anything else much attention. I will start with 30stm's first album though sometime over my xmas break.

I like listening to their music, just not something i'd listen to often. I mean I can't specefically define what kind of band would be my fav, but for the most part I like alternative/indie rock. Maybe something like tea party with electronic, middle eastern, and orchestral elements. I know the new 30stm is more electronic so i might actually really like.

I'll try all three albums by 30stm, not really my kind of band, but i do appreciate them a lot, and can definitely see myself giving them a lot of listens. Same with HIM, although when it comes to them, I don't know too mucg.

First HIM song i heard was join me in death. Beautiful song, they can write some really good songs, i should try more of their stuff. Good to hear about 30stm, i will check out the new album soon. I heard Kings and Queens on the radio and tv, I think that was what it is called, and I was like woah, this sounds amazing.

Jeff Martin's (lead singer of tp) voice varies from album to album but yeah I cann se then sounding like HIM on Transmissions since it was dark and electronic.

Sent you TP suggestions according to albums in your inbox. Basically your best bet is to go with "Transmission" or "Seven Circles". "Splendor Solis" and " Edges of twilight" are their experimental albums where they merge middle eastern music with 90's rock.

All of their albums are great. Which songs did you listen to on youtube? I can reccommend you an album you will probably like based on that. I buy albums whenever I have the money, which nowadays is not often. I do download a lot of album though, and if I like one enough, I buy it. I am definitely a collector though, I like having an actual physical copy with booklet and everything. I have a drawer of full of over a hunderd cds. While we are talking about buying cds, I am getting the Two disc special editions of the new Muse and Switchfoot albums 2moro, so i'm stoked for that.

I checked them out a bit, very interesting to say the least. Will have to hear more to reach a firm conclusion. But for now I do think they are more then simply conventional, and that is always a good thing.

If you want to try more of their songs, I can help you out. I will definitely try that band you mentioned, always up for trying new things.

The Tea Party. I don't know how I would introduce them to anyone. Their first two albums were rock combined with middle easter and african instrumentation, after which they went with more industrial Nine inch nails type electronic rock and finally ended with a mixture of things but mainly rock n roll. I can give you a few songs you might want to try from them.

The new flyleaf album is brilliant. Seems like they really used the last three years effectively in writing and recording an album that is much better and polished then the debut. Impressive lyrics and great music, glad to see it's more melodic then the first one too. As for T&n, yeah they have always had some really good bands on their label, always worth checking what they have to offer. Btw a friend introduced me to this new band that you might like, but i'm not sure, their very eclectic. oh and btw heard the new 30 seconds to mars single yet? I saw the video for it on tv the other day and LOVED it.

Anberlin used to be on Tooth and Nail, which is traditionally home to bands that have christians in them. They released three albums on T&N and recently signed to universal last year and released an album. I am getting the flyleaf album from a friend tomorrow, really stoked to hear it.

Sorry for the late response, i've been busy with school and everything that comes along with it. Flyleaf is great, can't wait to get the new album. Anberlin is getting attention because they are on a mainstream label now, but the majority of their fanbase has been outside CCM anyways. And yes I have heard Norma Jean and Underoath. Never listened to enough NJ to get into them but I do have three Underoath albums.

I think bands are better off making muisc for everyone. Don't see the point of limiting your audience to things like beliefs. And yeah Skillet, Red, Flyleaf are the more recent bands to get attention on a large scale. Do you like flyleaf?

I think the crossover christian bands like p.o.d and switchfoot generally have talent., because their trying to make music, for the sake of music. Bands like Skillet who stay in the christian music market generally don't have to push their art to experimental and creative levels because all they really have to do is provide suitable alternatives to secular bands. Most of them admit to making music that will be an alternative to some particular type of sound that is big in the secular market. The moment you do that you are gauranteeing that you won't be creative. I do understand that RATM was a political protest band btw. And yeah NIN is not on a label from what I know and Trent Reznor doesnt have a band. I think I will end up checking all of RATM"S and NIN's stuff at some point.

I've listened to some NIN and some RATM, both seem awesome. Just have to get around to paying them attention when I have the time to really give their music a proper listen. I gave up on bands like Skillet because I feel that for the most part christian hard rock bands are generic. I mean Collide was a good album, and comatose was decent but, I dunno they don't offer much that other bands don't. I mean don't get me wrong, skillet is a great band, but I just wish their guitar riffs were a little more exceptional and their lyrics a little bit more creative. But like I said before, Collide was awesome and some of the songs off Comatose were amazing.

I have heard all of those bands, and I do like 30stm and Lost Prophets. Will probably try NIN and RATM at some point because lately I have been trying a lot of 90's stuff because my friend is into it. As for christian stuf, can't listen to any of the main stuff, like I gave up on bands like skillet a long time ago. When it comes to more faith based music I usually listen to a lot more of the underground and indie stuff.

That is why I like DCB, they transcend so many genres and experiment so much. Like the song I showed you from them, starts of atmospheric with shimmering guitars and goes all heavy during the choruses and finally ends with a killer solo, and symphonic guitar and piano riff.

Worship is wierd, the emphasis is not on music but just lyrics and creating something that church goers will accept, it's just a one dimensional genre for me. I have heard some of showbreads stuff, could actually see myself getting into their stuff more.
