No like Powderfinger? They should be huge in the US! Major fan. Australia produces so many incredible bands. Regurgitator, The Superjesus, Amyl & The Sniffers, AC/DC, Grinspoon, too many to name. I have immense admiration for Australia if you can’t tell. Love from Oklahoma! :)

Understandable! I kinda feel similarly here with Nirvana, though I don’t think I can let go of them just yet. To answer your question, I’ve always been very interested in music/film/whatever really from all over the world and it’s one way for me to learn about a location’s culture and people. Australia’s music scene is so underrated, I don’t understand why the rest of the world hasn’t noticed. Do you ever feel that way? Everyone knows about England and Britpop and America’s music scene but nobody talks about Australia. Scotland is another country with a great music scene. I’m sorry if I offended you or anything by the way, I assure you it is nothing but love for Australia here

No offence taken at all! It is hard because Australia has a small population and is so far from everywhere else, but there's always a few acts doing well like King Gizz, Tame Impala, Glass Beams, and Amyl & The Sniffers (who you've already mentioned!). I feel it's hard for bands everywhere now to break through, with the combo of Live Nation owning nearly everything, plus streaming services not paying artists properly so they have to try to make touring work to earn a living . (And I love Scottish music too!)

Haha YEAH LADIES NIGHT WOO! I am glad Let England Shake is rocking your world now. Though I kind of resent it, because it was so good that nothing in the following year stood out as much so I kind of felt a bit bitter and disappointed about 2012. Have been feeling a bit stagnant in terms of new music lately in general, so attempting to make more of an effort lately to expand the ol' horizons. Some good stuff coming up soon though!

Neubauten would have to the fave, I've been waiting to see them since I was 15 or 16 but the whole thing was amazing!

I was a bit worried initially, given it's been copping a bit of flack for being boring/stale, but I dunno... there's something about his voice that just consistently does special things to me. It's pretty hard for him to do wrong in my books (though I didn't really get into all the Judy Garland cover stuff). My fave is Song Of You - just builds up so sublimely and showcases his vocal talents so beautifully *sigh* I'd say just work your way back - the Want albums have some pretty incredible standout tracks, but if you want a cohesive album with little filler, check out Release The Stars (though even Rufus admitted that Tulsa sucks, ick). On the MBD front, it's hard to go past her first (Bring Me The Workhorse) - all dark and broody and delicious. The new one is cool too, more chamber pop kind of stuff. I could go on but there's only so much room in this shoutbox. :P

Hi, I noticed from your profile that you're fond of wonderful noises made by the likes of Future Of The Left and Mclusky. These are some of our biggest influences, and ergo we might be right up your street, have a listen and let us know what you think. http://www.last.fm/music/Fashoda+Crisis Sim Fashoda Crisis www.myspace.com/fashodacrisis
