I unironically love Carly Rae Jepsen. I thought Emotion was her masterwork, never to be surpassed. The ethereally glossy 80s pop was superior to its source material and left TS's rightly-celebrated 1989 feeling ersatz and hollow. Run Away With Me is the undisputed star of the show, but with Boy Problems the album barely misses a note from front to back. But then she released Side B, and somehow it surpassed even that masterwork. Equal parts hopeful and longing, I can only compare it to the incomparable San Junipero episode of Black Mirror in its evocation of all that was the fever dream of the 80s. Unlike Emotion, the album has no peak or valley; whether it's Higher, Cry or Roses as individual songs, or the entirety of the album as a unified work, it's a magnum opus achievement worthy of listening on repeat. Seeing this wonderful homage to Carly in this special place just brings back those memories and I wanted to share them with you all as I sit back and listen to Side B
