Hi there :) You got good taste ;) The first painting is cropped version of 'Fishermen at sea' by what is my all time favorite painter; [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._M._W._Turner]Joseph William Turner :)[/url] The reason why I think he is so brilliant is the fact that during the period of the romantic art movement....this guy was making almost entirely abstract impressionistic paintings!!!! So yeah he was ages ahead of his time. This painting is of course not abstract but shows other signs of him experimenting with things that would later become staples of impressionism, such as use of light and color. (the green hue and the way he plays with light and dark areas on the waves, google the painting because it's hard to find a good picture of it that shows all the colors). The second painting is by Edgar Fernhout, a relatively unknown painter from The Netherlands. He started out making 'magic realism' paintings and ended with completely abstract compositions.
