Ok. So i just discovered the "LABS" section of last.fm where you can compare your library with someone else's...in BUBBLE FORM. So obviously, i chose my MUSIC HUBBY. It's so much fun! https://www.last.fm/labs/bubbles

Yes you should. EVERY OPEN EYE and SCREEN VIOLENCE are just perfect albums. Start to finish. Not one weak song on either album.

Wasn't it fun to see all of our overlaps and how my taste scews toward slightly cheezy Alt/Rock while you lean toward Dance/Pop girl groups. I loved it.

There wasn't one bubble of yours that I had no clue who they were. There would have been one had you not introduced me to Steed Lord awhile back.

It's brilliant. Give me a Marvel series over their full length movies any day. I can not have Agatha All Along to stop. I'm doing ok, just about... 2024 has not been our year for multiple reasons. can not wait to see the back of it, tbh. But we're hanging on in general, that's the most important thing. And luckily we can count on the music. x

I deleted that other shout... probably for the best. I was watching Olivia Rodrigo sing You're So Vain and the hatred within me took over. I just wanted to leave that message there in case the right person found it... which has been known to happen. You have no idea how much I hate this person!!!

Barbara, I kind of agree with you. I do enjoy some of the songs from this year but nothing that really stands out. I like Sweden (forgettable after 2 listens), Lithuania (interesting), Austria (very 90s but tired after 5 listens), Spain (may make anywhere between 10-30 listens for me), UK (enjoyable but only because of Olly)... and then there is that VERY controversial song that we are not allowed to like (that is all I will say). I do think that Poland (Luna) should have qualified, and I knew from the very first listen that we (Australia) had absolutely zero chance... ZERO! For goodness sake, just send Dami back or one of our other pop princesses with a GOOD song... i.e. get DNA to write it!!

OMG. Have you heard the new Celine mashup, "Set My Heart On Fire (I'm Alive x And the Beat Goes On)" that's blowing up in the UK?!?! AMAZING.

Hey :) just curious to have your opinion on Madonna's Ciao Bella? It's the best track from Madame X imo, such a joyful song

I'm sorry it's taken me so long to reply. I'm ashamed to say that I had never actually listened to this song. I kinda skipped over Madame X... it didn't really grab me, except Medellin, God Control, Looking for Mercy and maybe a couple of others. Listening to Ciao Bella now... it's really good!

I'm so glad you like it! It's such a fun track :) Yeah, Madame X is complicated to get into but I Don't Search I Find is one of her best songs ever imo

Yeah I forgot to add that. You know, I need to listen to this album again in its entirety. Same with American Life - to me, it has to be heard as a whole. American LIfe is one of her greatest albums. I think Madame X could be the same. What I really want though, what I would love, is a complete pop album... even if it's her last. But this song is really good and I can't believe I missed it. Thank you for making me feel it.

No prob! I want one last full pop moment too. I believe she has one last hit in her tbh. There's been so much hype about Brazil and people finally remember why they fell in love with her. Popular, Levitating and Break My Soul were steps in the right direction tbh. Great people to collab with.

I really hate Taylor Swift because her music is produced so badly, and it’s not necessarily poor, it’s so overdone, generic and contemporary you may as well be listening to a piece of wood at that point. Billie Eilish on the other hand has better production than even Lana Del Rey has now. Her brother does an amazing job at producing her work. Every time I think that pop is a dead genre lacking of creativity I always can think of Billie Eilish. I’m very glad there is at least one gen Zer who can make good music not tailored to just people with a tiny attention span.

I wouldn't call myself a Taylor fan... not at all. I do kinda feel like I must be missing something but I just don't see it. All of her music sounds the same to me, although I am really loving Wildest Dreams atm. I do think she's talented and very prolific - I just don't get it. Billie Eilish is someone I kind of dismissed. I saw her perform on some daytime show in the beginning and was not a fan. Then recently, I've heard a couple of songs performed by other people, which I've loved. I've then checked out who sings the original songs only to find it's Billie Eilish. I need to give her more of a chance.

I don’t use twitter or much social media. I used to do twitter but I just had to put it down. The online circles of Madonna fans, Taylor Swift fans, etc, are some of the most insufferable people I’ve ever seen and most of them look like they have absolutely no personality. I usually form my own, very nuanced opinions through my own research and judgment rather than being influenced by others or running with a pack. I feel the best pop artists period were Madonna, MJ and Prince. Metal music which is where I normally dwell and am deeply educated in, I could argue about but pop music just kills me, I don’t regard it too highly personally to bother getting into heated arguments or anything like you’ve described. The people who do need to get outside their house more often.

I feel if you listen to multiple genres that have little connection, like I do, It will influence you in a more open-minded way. Especially if you’re mature and not on the internet being a canvas to relentlessly defend and promote your favorite artist. I feel a lot of my opinions on music are grounded in reality enough to piss a lot of these chronically online types off but again, I don’t really care enough to get into an argument with one.

I might walk into one to quip something tongue in cheek but I usually stay out. I try not to fight but I have done it before. I’ve slammed and dragged people through the dirt over bands they listen to either because they’re edgy, a nazi larper band, or just style over substance. That’s in the realm of metal music though and these people are usually highly immature, much like the people who argue over pop singers.

His example made it seem comical and it is a little but I meant it serious. I would never send a swiftie cannibal corpse unless it was a joke. Saint Vitus is an artist I genuinely listen to and enjoy and with synth pop too.

Hi Brett, This is my number one song so far this year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiIo26ardSs I just trawled through your songs for the last 7 months and I couldn’t see it at all! I find it hard to believe that you haven’t listened to it yet! Have you truly not heard this song or listened to it once and gone “meh”……?

Hey Brett, just giving you the heads up; don’t bother listening to Jessie Ware’s new album. You won’t like it at all, and you will find it completely disappointing. …… and whatever you do - do not under any circumstances watch any of her videos because they won’t sell you on any of the songs ;)
