Well hard to find..not really..there is quite a few of hurdy gurdy makers in germany but the have f*ing long waiting times and also hurdy gurdys are very expensive. F.ex Anna Murphys (Eluveitie) was more than 6000€ ... at the moment I am having an used one from a german hurdy gurdy builder 'Kurt Reichmann' named 'Drachenglut'. But I have an 'own' one in the making. A hurdy gurdy maker from poland is building it. He doesnt have such insane waiting times like here in germany (here you wait up to 2 years sometimes) and he made mine in half a year, but its not entirely finished yet...probably by the mid of march.

Extreme about what? I remember having some problems with those finger kicking techniques at the beginnings, and also today if I dont practise for quite a while its hard to do it. At the moment I am playing hurdy gurdy a lot so I kick the whistles around for a bit...I already know I am gonna have problems again with this finger crap :(

And no I guess you wont get those in Warsaw because I believe they are only available in internet.

ring ring ring...well i used the lessons on tinwhistler.blogspot.com ... bzt you must start at the very oldest posts of all to start at the beginning. Of course it might be very too easy at the beginning but I found them pretty handy also teaching techniques and all. Well he is a jesuit and that sucks but I dont really care..the lessons are good :) To each his own :)

Btw. Elfsong whistles is a pretty well known manufacturer in the medieval and fantasy folk scene. Not so much in the pagan and metal scene though. They are made in canada and I LOVE their looks...like directly out of a Tolkien movie :D http://www.elfsongwhistles.com

was the same for me...i had a great blog that had youtube-whistle lessons...they wer epretty good and they offered music sheets as well to the songs they played :D But whistle is an instrument you can pretty easy learn alone...(diffrent from the most instruments where you should at least once see a teacher who knows what he speaks about)

Do you have a certain class or book to learn?

Well...I dont know any music shops (physically axisting) that have a big variety of such instruments. But you find quite a lot of samples on youtube or in some internet shops they offer sound examples too. Chieftain for example is a pretty well kknow manufacturer for Low Whistles. They are full metal (some instruments have plastic embouchures which I personally do not like that much)...this video is kind of nice :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KvNobI37R0

It's not that easy to make...it all depends on the sound you like. I started whistling on a 4€ pennywhistle. Its ok for practise and first experiences, but I always thought the sound is much too tinny...but there are bands who exactly look for that sound. My favourite band used such whistles for some of their songs too. Then I changed to low whistles. And there you have a bigger variety of models, materials and stuff...there are some plastic ones, that are hilariously cheap but make a really nice and warm sound, and there are really expensive ones that sound crappy <_<

It really depends on the whistle itself. Of course 4€-whistles sound much different than 50€ whistles. And they are all so different in the making...means every instrument trademark is different again

The Flute they use in Eluveitie songs you posted, is the Tin Whistle (like in nearly every pagan or medieval music band) For the intro of 'Arcane Dominion' it might be a Low whistle as well
