yup! you never know how long this will last so gotta make the most out of it while still can lol ... but yeah no need to worry, sometimes life gets hard and that's okay. as long as there are things that can make you smile from time to time, it'll be much easier to get through it all, and that matters a lot honestly

don't think will have the time for that (the true 'every day something new' thing, instead of waiting until the semester is over and then catching up on winter lol) but we'll see... maybe something will happen if the stars align. might try doing photography every day or something but i'd imagine it's all going to be quite similar (especially if it's gonna go on for 30 days straight) been getting some absolutely nasty night shots lately tho so idk might try. no promises though, just wanna survive this last year of university without another nightmare i've been having for years coming to life

thanks bro, don't like fearmongering, speculating or venting, but the pattern i've been noticing is that i feel like i'm living two separate 'selves' if that makes sense. one exponentially gets worse, and you literally can't do anything about it. and the other gets better only when i try (that word does a lot of heavy lifting here), and it often feels like an uphill battle of having to constantly unwind all the bullshit the other 'self' experiences just to achieve the smallest, most meaningless thing possible (that won't even make me happy or significantly change the situation for the better) and often with days like these you just get reminded that no matter how well you do, the world will always find a way to remind you about that other 'self'

like about the 'fearmongering and speculating' part, i mentioned the nightmares i've been having in the other message i sent, and the future doesn't seem too bright (but can only live and see what comes out of it) like don't even wanna entertain that idea, so won't mention what it is but yeah i'm really worried, at least just from noticing that 'trend' as if to say. and another thing is that everyone i love or care about goes away in one way or another, and it feels harder and harder to find that spark again to hope for a better future. as much as i would've wanted for that to happen, it might just only be real in my mind, but still wanna hope that everything just turns out fine and i get to experience that at least a little bit

well 'techno' is a broad term and usually it's worth listening to anything it has to offer. especially if you're on rym it will have some good recs for you if you just scroll through the all-time rated page. stuff like speedy j's loudboxer, british murder boys compilation, djrum's hard to say / tournesol is what i'd imagine you wanna hear, but you can visit this page and check some of the genres that seem familiar to you....... there's a lot of stuff i'd say is 'worth listening to' and many more genres to pick from so have at it! nightmare blunt rotation (not like any of them would smoke anyway) maybe if i were to get into kpop it would be more likely but have only barely scraped the surface of jpop to even say that i've 'listened' to that genre in the first place... props for liking all of those artists just like me, knew we knew peak at first sight

hi . HELLO!!!!! thy weavile guy so nice to see you !!! here's hoping you won't forget your password again.... and thanks a lot!! definitely doing a lot better now that there's some time to chill out lol hope you've been doing alright too buddy 😊 also we love to hear that!!!!!!!!! personally escaped the industrial confines a long time ago but it's always been haunting me in other parts of the music i've been listening to in the meantime... just finding so many cool sounding niches but barely ever getting the chance to commit to just one lol....... wondering what you would be used for if you're some kinda machine already.. that would really prove whether you're genuinely evil or not.

hiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!!! thank you for the birthday wishes marniee, i'm doing alright 😊 ever since the semester ended, just been doing more or less what i've been waiting to do for the past year or so lol (even though my time management still sucks, trying to get the most out of it while it lasts) would've been awesome to have like 48 hours in a day instead of just 24 but idk... also have you heard the new muse album?? lowkey kinda fire but maybe that's just me......... how have you been???

as long as ur making the most unstable great!! and yes time management can be so tricky and sucky. i sometimes wish i had more hours in my day, but i know id not use them LOLL. i already have all the free time in the world but i don’t have the will to do anything nowadays, i’ve just lost interest in a lot of things. noooo i didn’t even know they had a new one :o i shall make a note to listen to it sometime! i have been okayyy, i’ve been focusing on my excitement for autumn to cope with the heat here in the uk - but today was actually lovely :D GLAD TO HEAR UR WELL 💗

-
BeLegasy
yeahh i feel like that's just an excuse to not do anything lol like anything would even change once you had twice the amount of free time available... don't know what to do about it honestly other than completely cutting off the things that do waste time. also i kinda feel that too, many of the goals that i have for myself are the things i've already tried before so the novelty has kinda worn off. now it's just a matter of grinding or putting in more work to achieve them and that sucks a lot.... won't spoil too much about muse's new album but it has quite a lot of songs that i love more than anything they've made since the resistance lol hope you find at least some of it interesting enough...... also where i live the summer isn't too bad (it got to around 35c if not slightly higher) so still would take this season over winter any day of the week lol but hope the heat didn't cause too many issues, it gets crazy in some places from what i've seen

I see you as the electronic music guy. What do you think about Sasha and Digweed? Their dj mixes have been infecting my music taste away from metal for the time being cause their mixes just hit so fucking goooooooddddd

yeah all those mixes are pretty fantastic, though it's been a long time since i listened to them lol so can't say much other than they contain some of the essentials from the 90s british electronic scene. if you loved them then i can also recommend sasha's expander ep and way out west's s/t... and you aren't the only one who is binging electronic as a break from metal lol (there's the big j guy who also does that) the 90s were a packed time for electronic music in general, so you could use those mixes as a gateway to discover other cool stuff that you might enjoy!

ahh i see lol .. my guess is that you also have to work during the summer as well?? hope you're able to balance the satisfaction of working with getting some rest 😅 glad it's been going well for you though!! as for me, ngl it's been a lil rough, being exhausted kinda sucks. but now that the summer break is coming up can finally do some things i've wanted to do for a while (as well as relax lol) but yea didn't do much for my birthday other than treat myself and get new glasses the day after, which i'm really happy about. other than that, nothing much 😊

Full time! Healthcare stops for nobody...! I should really start thinking about applying for leave later this year. Otherwise doing my best with work-life balance! Sorry to hear you've been having a rough time, but summer break sounds exciting! How will you be relaxing? And any music you've been really getting into recently? Last month I finally got round to your rec for Basic Channel and I've been enjoying them a lot! That dub techno sound... so tasty...

delighted to hear that kklak!! though i guess that means you don't get the same kinda breaks during summer? (have family members who are teachers, so used to people getting long summer holidays lol) healthcare really is a different world when it comes to time off... for my summer break will probably spend a lot of time out in nature.. been enjoying taking photos with my new phone camera, though mosquitoes and other insects definitely make it less fun 😭 the doctor i saw also suggested i go to a sanatorium because of some issues, but idk about that honestly lol... got too much stuff going on to completely disappear for a while

music wise, been listening to a lot more electronic lately! found a really neat glitch/idm duo called 'SND' and i loved how they mixed in dub techno at times. also found a fantastic ep by adam feingold called 'nothing is a field'. 'spiral kiss, labyrinth mist' captured the bike ride on a warm sunny day vibe perfectly 😁 gyrofield's 'suspension of belief' was great too. and i'm glad you enjoyed basic channel!! definitely check out their other aliases and the chain reaction label sometime if you're curious, so much essential dub techno there..... also listened to some of your recs (but not the orbital sets just yet lol) the orb remixes were fantastic! the 90s really were something else...

Spending time in nature! That sounds lovely. You might need to bring mozzie repellent from what you're saying though! Going to a sanatorium - sounds a bit extreme? I don't know if we'd do that in Australia... Yes, vaguely aware of SND! I heard one of their albums once but before my tastes leaned that minimal. I'll have to give them a relisten. Haven't heard of the others but I'll check them out! And I'll definitely check out more of Basic Channel's aliases - I heard a Maurizio track on a Blind Test video and it blew my socks off. Glad you enjoyed the Orb remixes! Those Auntie Aubrey albums are brilliant. Speaking of recs - I don't suppose you ever checked out that Orbital mix I put together a while back? I'm really tempted to put another artist megamix together this year... it's between Kraftwerk and Aphex Twin at this point - or maybe BoC!? Once I find the time of course!!

there are pretty much seasons when certain insects are at their most annoying lol so soon the mosquitos will rise (but they aren't as annoying as those small flies, not sure what they're called) sanatorium maybe, but the 'go away for a month or two to rest' thing would probably work but in the current environment that's just not possible at all. used to really enjoy my time at summer camps but yea times have changed... SND have quite a diverse discography fwiw so you might find something in there to appreciate! also not sure about whether i've actually checked out that mix of yours before... but still think will give it a listen anyway 😊 seen a lot of people put together dj mixes of boc stuff (especially before the album's release) so it'd be interesting to hear how you approach mixing the tracks yourself lol but yeah take your time and do whatever feels the most enjoyable and fun for you!!! all of those options sound delightful, so would definitely enjoy listening to any of them lol

not studying music.. just a fun class i spotted and thought id take. just from the course description it seems like itll go into different electronic genres and utilization of electronic instruments and techniques in music. im interested to know how deep itll go too.. industrial uses so many electronic elements so i certainly hope the genre will be addressed. i just thought id mention it to you since i know you are a big electronic fan
Actions
-
BeLegasy
gotcha. i mean the industrial genre will almost certainly come up, since it was one of the earliest movements to really push the idea of creating sounds with machines. also because the live/studio differences are so drastic, think that could be another interesting topic, especially if the performer is a solo musician. i think the main misconception about electronic music is that it can't sound 'real' in the way rock does with its 'real' instruments. but at this point nothing is purely electronic or purely 'real' anymore and most modern music could be interpreted as 'electronic' lol

a lot of this i feel myself too honestly. im doing well right now myself.. but a fear of being open and known and seen is always something that trails behind me no matter how well im doing. being an abnormal creature. possible queerness and neurodivergency. being open is always scary, even with the most mundane of things.. but it does help. expel words from the mind to give at least a bit more peace up there. im not giving sympathy or attention, as you asked, but simply saying all this to let you know you are not alone in these feelings friend 🫂

help this windows lifestyle is eating me whole, all my drives are in the red ... i've been thinking about switching but the setup and migration would take soo much time and effort that i'll just probably wait until my studies are over for real. geometry dash only runs well in theory and especially if you throw obs into the mix... not sure if you've tried downloading geode and if mods work well enough with it? the official website says that geode is supported(?) through wine but whether it actually works as intended is another story. but a no-lag experience would be crazy, definitely not something you're used to

yeah i'll definitely need to do my research before switching, it's just that i wouldn't wanna rely on some old ahh incompatible software to pass and it's all just a matter of time right now. like there are a lot of other old windows-only stuff that you'd essentially have to sacrifice (mostly just experiencing them again for nostalgia) but idk how it really works. maybe setting up a vm to test things out wouldn't be the worst idea ever

i dont understand why you think youre the only person who cares about software compatibility? i really do not believe you have any software you need day to day which isnt either native to linux or can run through translation layers for linux. i have yet to run into a program i use day to day which doesnt work on linux. again, you should try to keep an open mind
Actions
-
BeLegasy
i don't think that way, day-to-day software i don't worry about much, it's the old niche software our uni decides to use that i just can't predict if it will be available on linux. not saying it's not available there, but it would probably be more hassle to get working than just putting up with it until the studies are over and i don't have to rely on anything anymore iykwim
