i suppose you could call Neutral Milk Hotel a folk/indie rock band. and yeah, it's a grower, i didn't get it on my first times either... so A Brand is your local band then, right? listened to that album, it's p good, m8 n8, decent. but i'd say it's a bit too traditional and happy for my liking. for i am a sad sad little thing. ;_;

Seconding what sixbar said. It is always best to listen to an album in its entirety rather than shuffling it or only listening to a few tracks.

what did you think of ITAOTS? (brainsqueals here, btw)

protip: probably wouldn't do my first listen of an album on shuffle. it might negatively affect any opinions you might form since album's track lists are usually placed in specific orders for a reason, either due to one track's pacing in relation to the other tracks, or the tracks might follow a plot.
