I could have seen her live as part of the Distillers 7 years ago, right after Coral Fang came out, but I didn't have anyone to go with and I think I assumed that I'd have another chance to see them again. But yeah, I have seen Spinnerette live and I thought they were pretty great. A week or two before I saw them live, I saw them play on David Letterman and it was awful. She couldn't hit the notes on "Baptized By Fire" and the whole thing felt sluggish. That made me worry about how the concert would be. But when I saw her live, she was like the old Brody, scream-singing and sounding better than on the album.

I already posted this on the Distillers page but you might find this interesting. It's from a recent Australian interview. "Do you have loads of unreleased stuff that you could one day release?" "I have a lot of music. I have tons that didn’t make it on the last record and I have years of years of stuff from before I got pregnant. And then all there’s all the stuff from now, I’m about to start recording again with Al’. I wanna make two records this year, I wanna make a punk rock record with Joey Castillo, who was in Queens of the Stoneage and is in Eagles of Death Metal. So I’m doing that and another Spinnerette record. Josh will be on tour this year and then I’ll hopefully be on tour next year." So even though it's not a Distillers record, it's a new punk record. And, btw, have you ever seen Spinnerette or the Distillers live? You live in Germany after all.

I like the Death Weather but I like the Kills more. I liked the simplicity of just Alison and Hotel. Just two people. So mellow.

Oh, I've never heard of that being a forbidden question. I've been asking fellow film students what they're going to do after college and they've been asking me and none of us know, so we're all in the same boat. I basically picked film as a major for the same reason you picked English studies; I didn't want a boring normal career. I graduate in May and I have no idea what I'll be doing then or even where I'll be living: maybe San Francisco, maybe New York, maybe Los Angeles. Do you graduate in May? And are you thinking of grad school?

I know what you mean about listening to the Distillers more than you used to even though their songs aren't new anymore. I downloaded all of the non-Coral Fang Distillers songs for the first time in early 2007 and I loved them, but for some reason, I got really into the Distillers all over again in summer 2008 and I listened to them more in that summer than I had ever listened to them before. I think it's because their stuff has such great youthful energy. Even my 64 year-old Mom likes "The Young Crazed Peeling." And Film and TV isn't as great as it sounds; it's a very competitive, expensive, greedy industry and it's hard to get a steady job in it at my age. But British Studies sounds like a cool major. I've never heard of that major in America. What kind of job are you going to get with that?

I like Spinnerette but I didn't like this album as much as Coral Fang. And also, I waited so long for it that I was disappointed that it wasn't earth-shattering. I can't wait until her next album though because I think I read an article once where she said she wrote most of the songs on the Spinnerette album in 2004. And two of my friends were in Germany all summer and I know they spent a lot of time in Munich and Bavaria in general. I'll ask them if they went to Franconia. And I'm from the San Francisco Bay Area but right now I go to college in New York City, specifically in Manhattan at NYU. I'm majoring in Film & TV. What's your major?
