I'm in the same boat you are with Jars of Clay. Except I only know the self titled album and it has nothing to do what I believe in spiritually. I think the last time I tried another album (from the library) I wasn't impressed. I just haven't been motivated to try anything else as a result. If you find anything as epic as the self titled let me know.. :D

.saw your Jars of Clay shout. if you haven't tried The Eleventh Hour, i'd give that your attention. it was released in 2002... chances are you gave it a shot already. i've tried to get into subsequent Jars releases, but they've really stepped away from what made me at least like them :D embraced more of a folk/pop style since then. but yeah, speaking of other good music... you've got nice taste for sure! some good chillwave and indie sounds for sure. i've got a Sunny Day in Glasgow CD sitting around that i still should check out...

Ya those were special times. I was really, really obsessively into BSS back then, so it was a fulfilling place to be. We even got the producer to name drop our forum names on stage at a Toronto show, just to say hi. It slowly lost life and they shut it down, I have not been bothered to join any other forum.

Haha! I actually ended up not going to Do Make Say Think, but St. Vincent was awesome. I'm actually listening to her right now.

Songs like Comfy in Nautica or Bros were based off like a single sample and were accompanied by his trademark soaring melodies... Tomboy often doesn't have these melodies and is much more rhythmic and texture-based. It's all about the repetition.

Maybe I've listened to PP too much. But I really do feel that way right now. I think it's misleading. The structure of Tomboy SEEMS to be closer to that of 'regular' songs, just because they have guitar chord progressions... The time signatures employed, and just the insane repetitions and breaks he makes in the songs. Sometimes the songs are almost repetitive enough to be grating, and I feel like he's doing this on purpose to elicit certain reactions from the listener. I honestly don't really care which is more 'accessible' to be honest. They both rule!!@!@!!!!1

crazy article! that's a shitty way to record. yeah it's got some weird stuff going on, the album. lots of weird little bloops and bits and sad sounding drums and some really cheesey sounding instruments. also: no hooks.

i'm not really sure yet. it's totally not what the strokes i loved sounded like but it's different enough to enjoy. it's like the 80's all over again, kind of. he single has bad guitar hooks but everything else seems OK. i haven't really listened to it too much, though, so we'll see.

You're the typical radiohead elitist who can't enjoy music just because its mainstream and sounds good. We are on the opposite sides of music taste.

I disagree with at least fifteen things you had to say about Marco Polio, I can't imagine what you were doing during the show save for maybe folding your arms wincing and jotting(tweeting?) down things that you didn't like, people make up their minds about things before they really experience them, perhaps if you reached out to someone else, held their hand and danced with them you would understand, I get the impression you take yourself very seriously and perhaps you would never do such a thing, but I think you should. I have never really felt the experience that we attempt to produce has been attacked on this level, or that the music my friends and I make together has been boiled down to the kind simple material drivel that you seem to view it as. You are on many levels blind to what happens around you, you should see what we can see, we would show you if you wanted.
