hey, saw Alcest and Opeth yesterday, was pretty great. Although both bands seem to go into a new direction than the stuff I started listening them for. New Opeth stuff is still quite awesome though, might give a listen to the most recent Alcest album might be still a thing to get into.

hey, gonna check out those things (somehow never really got into townsend, mainly know him from The Human Equation, didnt really enjoy the solo stuff from him so far but might give it a 2nd try). And I stumbled across that wilson video aswell yesterday :D. Awesome lineup, and instrumentation... as soon as Govan appeared in that vid, I knew shit is gonna get real ^^, and the live version of luminol is quite promising (better (or at least more enjoyable for me) than most of the stuff on GfD), if this is going to be the average kind of songs on the new album I'll really enjoy it. Btw. recently stumbled across [URL=www.last.fm/music/Einar+Stray]Einar Stray[/URL] you might want to check out the existing and the upcoming album, or at least watch those 2 vids: [URL=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dz2WW9GHbC0]We were the core seeds[/URL] , [URL=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4OOG0baX30]Chiaroscuro[/URL] I quite enjoyed it.

hi there. Hm not much new stuff, got my hands on some fusion stuff again ([artist]Planet X[/artist], new [artist]4Front[/artist] (which sounds pretty rush'ish aswell )), some Dream Theater Bootlegs from the first albums. I'm not that familiar with post "Moving Pictures" Rush, but sounds nice, might give it some listens :)

hey, still havent got my hands on latest Alcest <.< and gonna give ur other suggestions a try. Have fun and don't miss SW + Marillion (I still regret missing the grace for drowning tour over here) Marillion is something I never got fully into, most the stuff I've got feels kind of too poppy/80s to me :) (though I have to admit only full album I've got is a singles collection and I still really enjoy some stuff like "easter") Guess I should give them a fresh start with some Fish era Albums. Apart from that saw Dream Theater few weeks ago, quite awesome concert. Guess I really prefer the latest album as a whole to the few ones before and setlist had much awesome stuff from early albums in (WDADU, I&W and Awake)

ye I found some cheap aranofsky box with Pi, The Fountain and The wrestler (got it mainly for the fountain as I already have Pi and not that sure if I'll like the wrestler, gonna give it a try tomorrow), my favourite is still Requiem for a dream, but the fountain came close in case of the athmosphere you were left with after the film and which has became rare on films in general. bout VdGG maybe Pawn Hearts or H to the He... already saw ur journal and it lets me think about getting into some M83 stuff. I also might get into some Maybeshewill again cause its pretty nice stuff, got only Not for want of trying so far and its cool (+ there is [URL=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1nrtRLhvuQ]this[/URL] quite well done video someone made on the title song on youtube (might watch it and read the description) thx for the Alcest and Kayo Dot info, the latter one is still on my list of bands I got to get some stuff soon anyways :)

nice to hear :) hm ye Grace for Drowning is quite awesome, my personal favourite is Remainder the black Dog. I do enjoy most of the more mellow songs on that album aswell, good balance from awesome stuff, weird rhythms and slow paced greatness. Only thing I don't feel to fit in that album are the "choir sounds" but I gues it just might need a few more listens. Bout VdGG, I would really recommend giving them a try. Peter Hammill's voice has sth really special to it (also going to get my hands on some of his solo albums cause they are also told to be quite nice) and the combination of mainly keys+drums+bass+sax and no guitar does fine aswell. If your gonna listen to them you might start with the Godbluff album (my personal favourite :) ) Apart from that I just discovered Beardfish (swedish retro prog) to have some nice output with many different influences. Also you might try Phideaux (symphonic prog), at least listen to Chupacabras (the song) and the Album Doomsday Afternoon.

so I see you stumbled across the [album artist=Opeth]Heritage[/album] leaks, what is your opinion bout that album so far? I quite like it, though it's clean vocals only it's neither Damnation II nor is it similar to what they did on previous albums like watershed. btw. how are your expectations for the new [artist]Pain of Salvation[/artist] album? I'm not quite sure what they come up with next, they change their style pretty much since [album artist=Pain of Salvation]Scarsick[/album], but though my fav records were [album artist=Pain of Salvation]Entropia[/album] and [album artist=Pain of Salvation]Remedy Lane[/album] I enjoyed quite much of [album artist=Pain of Salvation]Road Salt One[/album] aswell. .... meh I still hate that text formatting thing here but I slowly get used to the link bands and albums thing finally :D

hi, thx for the recommendations. ye actually Damnation was done after the sörskogen stuff so he took the melody from it. also looking forward to new SW stuff cause its 2cd and in some interview he said that its pretty much 70s prog style in it :D Opeth also releasing new album in september. 1 song already up [URL=http://stereogum.com/766792/opeth-the-devils-orchard-stereogum-premiere/franchises/haunting-the-chapel/]HERE[/URL], sounds pretty promising, also I'll see them live in december with Pain of Salvation as backup. apart from that recently listened to some Mars Volta stuff. Another 2 recommendations for u: [URL=http://www.last.fm/music/The%20Samuel%20Jackson%20Five?ac=The%20Samuel%20Jack]The Samuel Jacson Five[/URL], just purchased Easily Misunderstood and enjoyed it pretty much. [URL=http://www.last.fm/music/Neil%20on%20Impression?ac=Neil%20on%20Impression]Neil on Impression[/URL] only heard The Perfect Tango so far, can't judge the other albums.
