I agree, the Lynch's Dune has very specific and dark atmosphere, the world he created based upon Herbert's novel is so irresistible mix of anciently looking sceneries, postmodern hitech technology (seen through the eyes of 80s, nowadays probably looks a little old school) which creates really glamorous impressions... And of course I can't forget the charismatic although only episodic role of duk

I look forward to it even more now :D You maybe don't know how right you are, I should be ashamed to have Dune at library for a few months now and still haven't read it ;) so now I'd better stop babbling and going to read this Herbert's masterpiece once for good :)) Btw, which movie based on Dune you like more, the old one made by Lynch(I prefer this one) or new series?

I compare cause both of them are albums from the same band, I know you can say there have been significant changes in lineup, but there ARE definitely some similiraties between them, like the same compositional approach, characteristic work with orchestrations, typical melodies etc. I doubt you don't hear them... but if your answer is no, we probably aren't listenning the same band...
