Hey :) I stumbled onto your journal somehow and ended up getting so interested that I read most of it. I'm kind of trying to get more into most of the genres that you seem to be a good source of information about (trance, d'n'b, psy trance, chillout/ambient, house etc) and I was wondering if you could give me a few starting points (in terms of artists), as there were so many mentioned I honestly have no idea I could possibly start. Other than the more mainstream stuff, such as Pendulum, The Prodigy and The Chemical Brothers, my library of these sorts of genres end at Deadmau5, The Qemists, Chase & Status, The Bloody Beetroots and Sub Focus. So yeah, I was just wondering if you could please possibly spare the time to suggest a few top artists or so for these sorts of genres/sub-genres for me to get started on. Thanks :)

I think that the first really good albums this year have appeared. New Carbon Based Lifeforms was as good as expected IMO, but Booka Shade's More! and Applescal's A Mishmash Of Changing Moods also are impressive. Oh yeah, and around 20 albums are already listened ;)

My opinion: The begin is (rly) worth listening to it more times, just the part from 2:13 could be w/o background imho. Atleast at its begin (like 15 sec maybe, it sounds too confusing). Passing from Brace urself to Humanoid sounds rly gr8. Later, the 5:20 part sounds/seems like the song is over but it isn't. Here comes the other passing, back to Brace urself, but sounds more like 2 songs played 1 by 1 more then mashup. Unnecessarily long? Mashup should take the best bart from 1 song to fill the other song. I'd cut the main part from Brace urself. I rly do love the 1st 5-minute part... Anyway, gonna check more of ur work. Cheers. :P

Yeah. Beckham is here fighting with polar bears and penguins. And I heard that certain finn is driving with traditional english team in Formula 1. Anyway I thought so too about this year. Massive Attack and BT were letdowns. Not that impressive unfortunately. I will give a listen for those albums you mentioned. Maybe something interesting will come up. Thanks!

I stumbled across your profile and enjoyed reading some of your journals. It is quite cool to see someone analyze electronic music so closely. I may recommend parts of your writings to people desiring to "understand" the genre. I am hardly an electronic "purist"...My musical tastes include just about everything except country and jesus music, but I find myself listening to more and more electronic music (particularly House) as time goes on. If you're into Leftfield, you might enjoy BudNubac. BudNubac have a Cuban influence in their sound, but definitely have some of the same 'full immersion in the album' feeling that you get with Leftfield. I've read through all your journals other than 'seen live' and 'the voices behind the breakdowns' and although I'm no longer into trance found them enjoyable to read. I never thought I'd read an article about Scooter without a pained expression on my face! I was quite surprised to see no tracks from Oliver Lieb (L.S.G., Spicelab, Paragliders, The Ambush) and to a lesser extent Simon Berry (Red Herring, Art Of Trance) in your trance list. Both were pretty important figures early in the trance scene. Also, as I can see you like Biosphere's Substrata you may want to check out two relatively unknown albums: Aglaia - Three Organic Experiences and Elegi - Varde. The first is especially unknown which is a great shame. I would advise getting the second first though as it's more similar to Substrata with that sort of 'arctic' sound. about it.
