Well i like the cd's too and the drumming is really amazing and head spinning but he used the same cool things in allmost all the songs wich makes it less cool after a while. Still I prolly never be able to play those sick progressive polyrithmic masterpeaces :D.

Indeed, it's been a while. Congrats with your new kit, I bet it sounds awesome! I can't afford another hihat but I can see how this opens a whole new spectrum of grooves with endless fun to play :D. But what are actually the main differences between your old kit and your new Mapex? (Sorry if I'm mistaking but it your old drum is/was a Tama right?) Oh btw, I My cheap paiste crash broke and I replaced it with a Sabian B8, I chose the B8 for its good price/quality rate and because the others where much to loud for my room. And besides that, only the kick-drum's head had to be replaced, the others are still ok + its been 4-5 months i broke a drumstick so i think my technique is alot better already. Greets from Belgium.

yeah i enjoy doing that too. switching from heavy to mellow, then back to edgy. Although when i listen to the more technical kind of metal i seem to get lost in it, sometimes even fall asleep. its funny that ur top tracks seem like u have a secret life.. haha nice kit by the way

duh - you live in maine - helps to read :P houston was a metal void for a long time until recently and we were fortunate enough for a promoter who loves metal and is from houston to start booking a lot of shows. before we go skipped by a lot of tours.

florida is humid - not sure where you live now but be ready to take a lot of showers :P

yo! yeah - that show is going to be cool - i haven't listened to Scar Symmetry that much but i love Katatonia - the venue is a hole in the wall also so it will be really cool. we have a really good lineup coming to houston this fall :)

Hm... difficult choice. The big difference is that the original contains about 5 minutes of wacky church organ... I like both. You can buy it at www.morganagren.com for $20 (Morgan Ågren is the drummer on the record). Looks like it is the original version...

I don't know if you've ever thought about checking out goa- or psytrance, it is some interesting music, and can get fairly agressive at times. I'd look around on youtube for Juno Reactor videos is you're interested. I don't know if you've ever listened to Sludge, but it's another genre you should check out. It's not fast but it's heavy as hell. Neurosis, ISIS, and Cult Of Luna are all good bands.

Breakcore is definitely something you should enjoy. I don't know if you ever checked out the Aphex Twin album drukqs, but it is quite an interesting piece of music. Lots of highly complicated fast pieces of music. It also has prepared piano pieces in it, which is just about the most awesome thing ever.

Hehe, finally? are us metalheads that uncommon? ;) As ure into Meshuggah I highly recommend a peak at Thordendal's Special defects. Maybe closest described as something like a trippy venture into a weird mind :) It is seriously wicked. Beware, it comes in 2 flavours; original and v3.33.
