Absolutely worth stickin' it out. It's been quiet as a tomb some years, unlike the early ones, but I'm happy to see a bit of resurgence. And we diehard scrobblers are getting to witness it. Cheers!

Goddamnit you made me feel so ancient with this compliment! But thank you. Even after all these years i still love this site. All the stats, charts and the ability to find new music is right in my wheelhouse and i can't imagine abandoning it. Im just glad to see a resurgence in the site these past few years. It got real lonely here a bit back.

Haha yeah I should’ve probably worded my shout better, but I’m glad that you still enjoy this site! Despite the toxicity that might stem from it, it’s still an interesting and useful place where it’s so much easier to access and find new music. I don’t think I’ll leave anytime soon either :D

Ohh, Hello Alex. Props for AFI scrobbles. I need more follows like this, as AFI(pre-decemberunderground and maybe a couple of songs after) is probably in my top3 bands. Great music taste overall.

Appreciate the kind words! And yes AFI pre-DU is among the best music I've come across. Black Sails and Art of Drowning were among the very first CDs I came to own at 12 or 13 years old, and they have remained some of my favorite albums to this day. I owe my love of hardcore, metalcore, all kinds of punk and punk offshoots to AFI. But that pre-DU era still ranks at the top.

I was away for a good 5 years or so, but once I got scrobbling up and running on my phone, I was back. I still love the concept of all this. The charts, the stats, the ability to find so much new music with a few clicks and some random risks. A shame it never got upgraded into something more. A true music community. But oh well. As long as there are others out there scrobbling, posting shouts, so will I be.

Congrats on your 14th LASTFM ANNIVERSARY today :-) ... and your recent >70k scrobbles ! ... How fast time flies with good bands, right? ... What do you like best about lastfm nowadays, and what did you like when you joined the "scrobblers"? ... P.S. I devote this music (e.g. available in youtube/deezer) to your "birthday": ... genre: minimalism/experimental -> ... "1 day after February 13" (with 121 beats/mins): ... https://www.last.fm/music/Erkan+Y%C4%B1lmaz/_/1+day+after+February+13 -> this is the 13th track, from album ("violin edition (1st album)") ... btw: We now have to wear masks when shopping, driving bus etc. here in Germany... Is this similar at your place ?

maybe you could like envy or heaven in her arms since they got post-rock influences. also you should definitely check out devil sold his soul if you dont know them already, they kinda remind me of 65daysofstatic, especially the album 'a fragile hope'. its not their current but sure worth a listen.

Appreciate the kind words! Although i am definitely finding dozens and dozens of cringe worthy shouts I've left in boxes from over 10+ years ago. But i was a knuckle dragging teen and I am the first to admit it. Anyway, some sick charts you've got there. I'll have to scan thru them for stuff I don't have yet. Been on a downloading spree for new music the last 6 plus months. Always looking for more passionate music.

Wishing you a wonderful first week in 2019 from extremely cold Germany, Alex, it's glorious to know you are being here at lastfm for >12 years :-) ... Looking back - how did your "musical voyage" evolve over the last decade? ... Wishing the best for your 54k scrobbles, and "500 artists scrobbled" milestones ... How I came by your lastFM user page? ... the neighbour algorithm by lastFM said you are currently 1 of my musical neighbours (fifty users are inside the list): last dot fm/user/experimental_EY/neighbours

I need to visit your profile more often and listen to your top tracks. I recall that we share similar views on the Red Sparowes stuff (philosophically) and post-rock/post-metal in general. We used to have a high compatibility, so we must have split in different paths on the musical highway in the last few years. I must rediscover that which has been lost! Anyway, have you published any writing yet?

Sorry about blowing up your shoutbox dude! In a completely different direction... I was wondering if you heard the Mogwai remix album and what ya thought of it. And since you seem to enjoy post-rock, whether you were into Gifts From Enola and had jammed their latest album. Peace...

Yah. They've always been a favorite of mine and their newest Book Burner is kicking my ass still. Grind is tough man... Most either love it or can't listen to it at all. Even fans of extreme music. So many bands blur the line as to whether they're grind, death metal, powerviolence, hardcore...or somewhere in between. If you wanna go to the source, you're talking about old Napalm Death, Carcass, Brutal Truth, Siege, Extreme Noise Terror, Terrorizer, Repulsion. All are bands worth checking out if you haven't...esp ND and Carcass. I would start with Nasum and Rotten Sound. They happen to be my favorite pure grind bands of the modern era, although Nasum is no more. Kill The Client, Magrudergrind, Wormrot, Insect Warfare, Discordance Axis...imho, they all are standouts in the genre. Dude, I could post you a list a mile long...and as far as albums go...lol. Might need a PM for that! You could do a lot worse than starting with Nasum and RS... Feel free to ask for recs! Cheers!

What are your thoughts on the new War From a Harlots Mouth? It's a little too by the numbers for me... I'm not a huge fan but I do like their earlier stuff. The last couple, for me, are technically flawless but not much substance...nothing that sticks to the ribs. I admire the skillz but don't find it all that memorable, and the vox...hmmm. Just my opinion. Fear Before The March of Flames...nice.

Thanks for the rec my friend, I'll give it a look see. And yeah, Queens... Some of my favorite songs have Nick's vox. He gives them a totally different dynamic. I love the first s/t album but SFTD is the bomb, no doubt...and Rated R. As far as I know Grohl is drumming on the new one too, that's a done deal. Almost guarantees a winner. Now all we need is for Josh to slip on his Kyuss shoes and we're all set... (Ain't gonna happen) One can always wish!

Noted. Don't even know where to start with Coheed...lol. Btw, I just read Nick O. is doing some vox on the new QotSA album which is sweet. Personally, I miss the dude. He contributed more than people think.

Word... A lot of bands that take time to get into yield the best results once you do. Neurosis and Converge were like that for me and Swans. I'm sure TMV will be no different. I'm gonna give Coheed a rip one of these days as well. And, with very few exception do I not find something to like about every release by bands I consider myself a fan of. Of course one has favorites. Searching for music that I'm passionate about has been a lifelong quest. Right on man.

The Mars Volta are so enigmatic to me. I feel like I should love them, being a big At the Drive In fan. But I only really jam De-Loused and Frances with any consistancy. Maybe it'll click, I need to give them another go because the musicianship is stellar.

I originally became a quiet fan of the Deftones after Adreneline. Then really enjoyed Around the Fur and White Pony. After that things started to blur a bit for me as far as their output is concerned, Also, I was way into black and death metal at the time and leaving mainstream metals' confines. I kept up with each release but not with the same zeal I had when I was younger. Glad I've come full circle, cause I enjoy the shit outta the last two and that's made me appreciate SNW and the S/T more. Chino's voice gets better and better. Can't wait to hear the project with him and the dudes from Isis. Later.

That it is... I thought Diamond Eyes was a strong comeback, it took me a few spins to get into it. But the new one got me right from the start. I'd kinda given up on the Deftones a few years ago and I'm glad I found my way back to 'em. Brilliant band.

That little black mark on my avatar means I can see who has visited my page... And I just wanted to say nice taste bud. Anybody who listens to that much Converge, Mastodon, Mogwai and Neurosis is aaight in my book. Not to mention QotSA and 65daysofstatic...just sayin'. Cheers!

Good point. Things come up so don't feel the need to apologize/explain. Will do, have to check your library a bit more and hopefully you'll have some new tunes for me also. Cheers!

Seen you around on a lot of pages and shoutboxes. Similar music tastes and you leave shouts that contribute to the conversation rather than just bashing others. A model last.fm user.

No doubt, man. I'm not sure if you got my text or not, but Neurosis has a new album coming out in October, too! Good god, I can't wait! Check out this new track from Mono's upcoming release. Beautiful video, moving as always. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usHC-O1BPCM
