My personal favorites of the year are LCD Soundsystem - This Is Happening, Titus Adronicus - Monitor, Gorillaz - Plastic Beach, and Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles II. Two of those are just leaks but I also enjoyed the new MGMT album, Blood Red Shoes - Fire Like This and Yeasayer - Odd Blood.

With The Band, you could never go wrong! However, to get what The Band were all about, start out with both Music From Big Pink and The Band which were the best, in my opinion. Stagefright and Cahoots are excellent, as well. But don't make the foolish mistake that most Bandheads make and ignore the rest of their discography, completely! The songs that made me into a fan would have to be I Shall Be Released, Chest Fever, Up On Cripple Creek, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, The Shape I'm In and Stagefright. I consider this band to be an "album band", not a "singles band", so none of the "collection albums" will do. Have fun!!
