yeah! it's just perfect. that high pitched buzzing like cicadas and the static and those gorgeous warm deep bells. i had an mp3 and liked it so much i tracked down the actual cassette and was so glad i did. sounds twice as good. if you liked that check out the track "Yin Pitch Detection Synthesis Kissing" by Hecker. similar sort of vibe. incredibly relaxing.

Hi! Daas is brilliant yes - I was a big fan of Kopllop and especially Onkruid already, but still, it's nice to hear it all as a whole album. Machinefabriek's 2010 releases have all been so diverse - I suppose that there's something for everyone. I think Nerf is my favourite, and perhaps the most accessible? For classically Mf-sounding range between patient tones and raucous static bursts, Music For Studies is also really interesting. Slovensko, which I also love, is much more abstract, musique concrete kind of thing, while De Jonge Jaren is a fascinating trawl through his early Notwist homages and the like. Also, Duotoon - a unique sinewavey, Keith Fullerton Whitmanish experiment, which is good, but maybe not a priority? The only one I can't quite get into is The Breathing Bridge. So, er, Nerf and Music For Studies, if I had to pick a couple!

Hi ~ just earwigging on your Black To Comm discussion ~ I agree that Alphabet 1968 is the business, and would also vouch for the Wave UFO and Charlemagne Pippin release. The former consists of 5 weird, abstract, busyish little tracks, while the latter is a long drone-based piece....My big favourite recently has been Coldstream - the South Island LP and the Alarums single are both amazing.

Oh Yeah, I'm really considering splurging on those new demdike stare albums, although it would really make sense to wait for a compiled release. The Thomas Koner box set is really really good. I haven't heard anything of Daphne Oram, but she sounds pretty interesting from what I have just read. My Oneohtrix Point Never obsession is really starting to grow: I downloaded some of those cassette releases that Boomkat have and they are each just awesome in quite different ways. I should probably give Rene Hell more of a listen. I bought Porcelain Opera on vinyl on the strength of a recommendation from a friend, but shorty after that my record player broke so I never really got much of an opportunity to give it any real attention. Maybe I should try to download it. And sadly I don't have anything other than 'Alphabet..' by Black to Comm. I really meant to get some more of his stuff, but I have been really sidetracked trying to keep track of all the brilliant releases this year.

Not public knowledge as such, but it's alright for me to tell you. We're in the process of sorting out our new promotion. SDC's live set was excellent, wasn't so keen on his djing afterwards but it was a really good night. You'll have to come down to one of our next parties, the space we're using is really really good.

Well, I just recently dug out my copy of Symbiosis by Demdike Stare. I've had it for quite a while but never really given it a proper listen which was remiss of me because its great. Besides that, I picked up Mark Mcguire's Tidings/Amethyst Waves a few weeks ago and I love it; its easily as good as anything he's done with Emeralds, and very much in vein. That and Forest Swords has been sound tracking my summer. Besides that my favourite music this year has been crafted by Rafael Anton Irisarri. The new Sight Below record is just really exceptional; more shoegazey and less like Gas, but probably better than that is the record he put out under his own name, 'Reverie'. Its got a reworking of Arvo Pärt's fur alina on it, which is sublime. Anyway, this has become quite the wordy answer. What are you liking at the moment?

Yeah, I certainly agree. Are Games any good? I was just thinking about purchasing Everything Is Working from Boomkat.

If it came down to choosing just one Jan Jelinek record, I think that'd be fair to say. His whole catalog is interesting though. The 'Textstar' album under his Farben name is absolutely wonderful and must-have.

The new Machinefabriek is really excellent, even by his standards. It's very patient and controlled. I find it hard to describe how he does it really, but he seems to combine elements of drone, noise, piano, field recordings, samples, and even though his pieces are individually quite different from one another, overall you always recognise it as Machinefabriek. And I feel like the title track on Dauw and Trouringh from Ranonkel are almost like 'hit singles' in Machinefabriek's idiom, where a little lilting bass tone or piano figure has ten times the impact because of its setting. Whatever it is, it does it for me anyway.
