I never fully realised that trash rock is a legit synonymous term for garage music, I use it mostly for noise rock bands with a somewhat similar thrashy sound though, !

Correct! Metallica, Slipknot, Bloodhound Gang and all that shit (bad shit) are garbage rock. The Cramps, Pussy Galore, The Ramones and all those awesome artists are trash rock.
