"Tr00 pop punk" is a satirical way of saying pop-punk revival that started in the United States, in perticular the San Francisco Bay Area and New Jersey where most of the bands started in the late 2000s. These bands take pop punk and fuse elements of punk rock and melodic hardcore in to make their style sound heavier and have a more hardcore punk oriented sound. The concept gained popularity from Man Overboard’s “DEFEND POP PUNK" T-shirts. Tr00 pop punk is one of the many deteriorative movements coined by Sergeant D of popular music blog "Stuff You Will Hate".
Sergeant D was very critical when describing the bands within the music, stating that they take pop punk way too seriously and describe them as "melodic, but not in a fun, catchy way- more like a melancholy". Examples of "tr00 pop punk" are: The Wonder Years, Title Fight, Man Overboard and Transit.
