Sumeriancore is a sub-genre that describes technical or progressive deathcore bands who are signed to Sumerian Records (for example Veil of Maya) or bands who have stylistic similarities to these bands. The genre is a mix of technical death metal, mathcore, and hardcore. The word is accredited to the blog MetalSucks.net. The website coined the tag in early May 2009 when they were discussing the latest Born of Osiris release, one of Sumerian Records's most well-recognized and longest-tenured bands. Although this is not a well-recognised sub-genre, it has began gaining momentum on internet message boards and other discussion areas when talking about these types of bands. It is a way to differentiate these deathcore bands from other more traditional deathcore acts such as Whitechapel and Suicide Silence.

The genre is it's simplest of forms is melodic technical deathcore. Most of the bands in this genre usually include irregular time signatures and very technical instrumentation, as well as typical deathcore elements such as breakdowns. Sumerican Records bands such as The Faceless, After the Burial, Born of Osiris, and Veil of Maya are the original artists of Sumeriancore, but the genre has extended it's reaches to any band who implements these elements into their music (for example Arsonists Get All The Girls).
