Scenegrind is an illegitimate genre that tries to be more abrasive than regular grindcore with emphasis on crazy tempos, vocals consisting of ear-splitting highs and pig-squeal lows, and discordant guitars to add to the relentless discordancy the bands aim for. The genre can sometimes overlap with deathcore and sass, and can almost always be defined as the most extreme version of mathcore. The name "scenegrind" comes from the fact that the music was often listened to by members of the scene subculture during Myspace times.
There has been a revival in the genre in recent years, coming from bands and projects such as The Sound That Ends Creation, secondgradeknifefight, .GIF From God, Geisterfahrer, Sounding, and WorldsBiggestBassProShop.
